Annalise does not want to go to Deacon for help but something has happens to her best friend. But the thing is her best friend is Deacon's ex-wife and their break up was not the best. But it has been years. Deacon agrees to help her even if he knows that he shouldn't. But Annalise is a big pain in the butt. Deacon is getting feelings for Annalise that he doesn't know what to do with. Is it because he is protective of Annalise or is there more there? I loved this one. The chemistry between these two is off the charts. But then again Marie always brings the heat when it comes to chemistry between a couple. I absolutely loved the storyline and plot. It was twisted and full of suspense. What happened to Deacon's ex-wife and how does it affect Annalise? Will Deacon be able to figure out what is going on and keep Annalise safe? The first book in this series and I can see this one being an amazing series. I cant wait to read more. Highly recommend one clicking this one.

Good!

I usually really love this author and I enjoyed this book, as well. I just wish that the main female character had time to demonstrate her substance. We didn’t get much...I’ll definitely be reading more of this series, though.

Deacon Black didn't like his ex-wife's best friend BEFORE the divorce - when she comes crashing back into his life years after it - can it get any better? Annalise Grimaldi is many things - curvy, fashionable, and Dani's best friend. But when there is blood on the floor (literally) and a missing woman - the only person she can turn to is the one man she has always hated.

The first book in a new suspense romance series and despite it being enemies to lovers - I didn't hate it. Anna is a really good friend despite her bestie being a toxic jerk (literally this was the most toxic female friendship I have read in a loooooong time.) She is a bit shallow and is nearly Too Stupid To Live - but ends up really growing and changing and FINALLY stands up for herself. Deacon is a badass with a chip on his shoulder and is a complete arse for about 30% of the book but ends up redeeming himself and doing some great groveling in the form of a declaration of action.

It is a slow burn with some moderate to serious heat in the love scenes but the internal monologue level is high and often drags the pace of the story down. I am intrigued by the rest of the team for the most part and wouldn't hate reading more of her books. (Her MC crew shows up a bit and you don't really have to have that backstory to enjoy this one.)

This audiobook was so good! It did take a bit to get going, but by the time I was about halfway through, I couldn’t stop listening! I would’ve like some more communication between Anna and Deacon after everything went down, but all the suspense and tension throughout the book made up for it

This was my first book from this author and I was impressed. The storyline wasn’t one I have read before, but does involve an enemies to lovers theme. Anna and Deacon have a history that dates back to their childhood years but haven’t seen each other in at least 8 years. Events force them back into each other’s lives and feelings come to light. But history rears it’s ugly head and they have obstacles to overcome. It was a quick read because I was dying to know what happened next.
