This one was a bit of a struggle for me as I had not read book 1. However, after I got immersed in the world I was hooked.

Roihan has finally been freed from his control chip. He knows his wife is out there somewhere, if he could only remember!

Aria first female cyborg and only knows the "truth" fed to her by the Ardak. She can not only speak with the Ardak but also with their ships. But she is not some Automaton. When she discovers that they plan on attacking a planet she links up with Roihan. But as her memories of her past life filter through, some glimpses of Roihan also appear. What is Roihan to her? What memories do they both share?

Loved that Roihan never gave up on finding his wife, even with the stiff obstacles of not remembering pretty much anything about her. Aria may be a unique cyborg but she is still a female, ne who is slowly remembering all the pain and experiments she has been through and what she has lost. Love really does strike twice and I loved watching them fall for each other once more.

Aria and Roihan are facing dangers from both within and without - in fact, its not even certain they are on the same side. Who can be trusted? This book takes them off the planet in a fast paced, action filled story. The physics in places requires a bit of suspension of disbelief, but the story is entertaining. The challenges keep coming at them one after another as they desperately seek a cure to the cloud of red death threatening to exterminate their people.

This book had far more of a gritty space opera feel as compared to Tordan which stayed plant bound and veered more towards fantasy. It is primarily a story of conflict and expands the complexities of the situation on the planet. It is also a second chance romance in a way - Roihan has found his wife, but she has no memories of him, can he win her heart again?

This is book 2 in the Cyborg Warriors series and picks up right where book 1 left off, but follows a different pair of characters. The story arc in this story can be read independently of the previous book, but the backstory from book one make this a far richer story. Understanding the peoples and conflict that is going on might be a bit challenging if you start with this book. This is an honest and voluntary review of an ARC
