I picked up a copy of this at the library without looking at the different versions. The version I got is a terrible translation, or else a terrible abridgment, or something. This version was actually published in Belgium, and then translated to English from that, I guess? Important things are left out. Events happen with no explanation, and then we're abruptly thrown into another, seemingly unrelated event. It's not the story I remember at all. :-( But here's a dilemma. the kids like it. They want me to read it to them every night at bedtime. I was thinking I would switch to another version, but this one is way shorter. And I'm dying to start The Hobbit with them. But is this the memory of the fabulous story that I want to give to them? Or will they remember any of it? Probably not, right? So for now, I guess we'll just power through it.

It’s a cult classic and it deserves that title. But unforunately it doesn’t quite captivate me as much as other classics.

Let’s call this… lost in translation or alternatively, ‘a serious of unrelated and unfortunate events with no real consequences’.

Just a bunch of weird stuff happened for no apparent reasons, definitely none that were explained. But boy howdy does Pinocchio learn to be a ‘good boy’… it just takes killing other characters, manipulation, cheating, stealing, abandoning, temper tantrums, being turning into something else, being drowned twice, and eaten.

So… yea.

3⭐ me gustó aunque por ratos me aburría, claramente no es un género q me interese pero fue entretenido y tenía sus bromitas chistosas
