Might come back to this later but for now, the insta loveyness of it and the telling vs showing of it is not working for me.

I fell in love with Cal and Oscar from the very beginning. Cal's possessiveness and instant connection was perfect for the timid man Oscar was. I loved the brothers and the storyline. I cannot wait for each brother's story and the series to continue. This was an amazing debut novel!

Usually, when reviewing a Lark book, I go full [redacted], but this book has been out for a while, and it's a reread for me. Needless to say, I found Devil's Mark on a lark *see what I did there* not long after its release and not even a chapter in, I thought "this will be an autoread author for me." - I wasn't wrong.

DEVIL'S MARK is wonderful, entertaining storytelling. It starts as most mysteries do, with a de ad body on a rug in a book shop.

Cal is one of the four princes of hell, but he lives "topside" on Earth. Content to live out his eternity in his bookshop, having casual hookups, and living his life. One night out at his brother's club, THE CLOSET, has his path and future directly in line with a man named Oscar.

✨️Oscar continues to be my favorite character that Lark has ever written✨️

Oscar is a year out of the worst thing that has ever happened to him. After escaping an abusive relationship, he still struggles with anxiety and a lot of fear. His bestie Bailey encourages Oscar to try and start living again and drags him out to The Closet for a night of fun. And that's where Oscar and Cal meet.

There's lots of paranormal drama happening that keeps the story moving a long. We get to see a big alpha demon completely fall head over heels ✨️first✨️ while simultaneously becoming the sweetest most besotted partner EVER.

There's lots of communication, lots of worldbuilding, and family/found family vibes throughout the entire book that really sets the tone for the rest of the series.

My favorite part of the story, aside from the romance, is getting to see Oscsr find himself again. We get to see him fight the battles of his past and become stronger, all while remembering who he was and finding joy in his life again. He's the sweetest, truly. A book loving, generous, and bossy man. He has Cal wrapped around his finger, and I can't even begrudge him because Oscsr deserves the world, and Cal would die to give it to him.

Lark takes us into a world of demons, angels, and other supernatural creatures, all while delivering stories full of love, heartache, passion, and humanity.  Can't recommend this book or this author enough!!!

I. Just. Love. This.
Oscar and Cal are absolutely everything. Hurt/comfort, size difference, paranormal/fantasy, mm romance.
Hurt/comfort is one of my favourite tropes and this was done so well. I just loved how much Cal was there for Oscar, helping him through his past trauma.
Oscar is human, he’s a teacher and he’s still healing from his past abusive relationship. Cal is a demon with a reputation, after leaving hell with his brothers over a hundred years ago, he’s just happy living his life on earth, just running his bookshop and hooking up with no wants for a relationship. Until he meets Oscar. There was a good mix of plot and spice, the story flowed nicely and I didn’t feel like the spice was taking over.
I honestly wasn’t expecting this to be as fun as it was. I was expecting something dark, which it still was, but the humour, the sarcastic comments and banter made this a lot lighter than it would have been. I’m also a sucker for size difference, so yeah, that was pretty hot.
I can’t wait for Harlow’s book, I just loved him.
