3.5 maybe? Ghost rape? Incest? The mc just completely changing into an entirely different person at the end? I just - this was 50 hours of my life that I will never get back

This took me literally forever to read. Anne Rice is an absolute genius for being able to create an entire in- depth history for a magical New Orleans family. However, it 1000% felt like you were reading a textbook for the majority of it. The ending is insanely amazing, but the journey to get there was just too long for me.

This was a little long and dragged in parts, and a bit too talky, but it was also fascinating and creepy. I loved all the descriptions of New Orleans and the characters were wonderful. I think of this story with a shiver when the wind picks up suddenly . . .
