It was fun and still felt like an Artemis Fowl book but Im not sure what it is adding to the series. I felt like the series ended fine in the previous book but now? I’m curious to see what happens next but not going to jump to it straight away.

I'd have given this book four stars
But the ending! Well, it deserves five stars just for the climax.
Artemis Fowl is a boy-genius who enters the hidden world of fairies to wreak havoc...
There are limits to this plot and the middle part of the story seemed like a retelling of book 1. It wasn't bad but felt little repetitive.
But then, the writer brings the climax...
The juxtaposition of science and magic...
The theme is simple, that magic is just another type of energy and it is all science... But actually implementing the theme in a way that we get the flavours of both, science and magic and neither of the two essences is diminished in the process, now that something different. That is the Lost Colony.
But the ending! Well, it deserves five stars just for the climax.

I wasn't sure at first, but the Demons make an interesting addition to the fairy world, and to the growing list of characters in Artemis Fowl's world.

Anche in questo caso lo sciattume vince sull'umorismo, purtroppo. A me Colfer storicamente (l'ultimo libro l'avevo letto 5 anni fa) piaceva. Non è che questo sia male, ma a parte sviste editoriali grosse a cui evidentemente nessuno è interessato (ad es. a un certo punto c'è un intero paragrafo che si ripete), sembra che manchi proprio la voglia di scrivere un bel libro, pur "non serio" e destinato agli adolescenti. Se questa vi sembra una scusa, forse è meglio che lasciate perdere Roald Dahl.
Il personaggio di Minerva è praticamente inutile, è stato una grossa delusione: si trova lì all'unico scopo di sbloccare la trama e garantire un bersaglio per gli ormoni di Fowl. La ragazza non è tanto differente dallo stereotipo del personaggio femminile cretino che si spinge troppo in là e combina danno: il fatto che l'obiettivo sia il Premio Nobel non cambia la sostanza.
Fowl s'è redento e non sono sicura che questa nuova versione mi piaccia: era più secsi quand'era bastardo, e la mancanza di scrupoli era coerente con l'intelligenza fuori dalla norma.
Il fatto che Bombarda non sia più al centro dell'azione lascia un senso di nostalgia; la mancanza degli scazzi fra lui, Polledro e Tubero si fa sentire più che mai. Bibbidi Buh è divertente, ma per sfortuna si vede molto poco.
N°1, il demone-intellettuale-stregone, è da morir dal ridere. La sua presenza, come i siparietti comici tra Bibbidi e Bombarda, salva il libro dalla noia totale. Comunque sia c'è uno scadimento, tanto da rendermi contenta che la saga stia per finire (ormai devo terminarla per motivi di collezionismo e affezione nostalgica).
