Special Agent Puller the best CID investigator the Army has ever seen is once again caught up in a crime, however, this one is personal. I do enjoy a good who dunnit and this one, aside from the copious amount of army history lesson, hit the mark.

John Puller is visiting his ill father when he is interrupted by terrible news. His father, is now a suspect in the disappearance of his mother when he was a child. It is inconceivable to Puller his father – a decorated veteran – could possibly have been involved, but the evidence suggests otherwise. Puller starts to investigate, despite his close association with the case. But, all is not as it seems…
A freshly paroled Paul Rogers has a past he wishes to avenge. He and Puller are on a collision course – both on the trail of plot thirty years in the making.
In all honesty, this was a bit of a disappointment in my eyes, mainly due to the villain. The usual Puller activities are there, and Veronica Knox returns, but I found the villain to be a bit ridiculous. It was also a little too predictable. Perhaps Puller’s character had run his course, and this was the way to close it out. It is not terrible or anything, but I feel it is the weakest of the four books in the series.
