Not sure how I feel about this one...it definitely didn't pull me, took me a month to get back to it after I started it. The second half of the book pulled me in more, I read almost two hundred pages of it just today, but it just wasn't great overall. I hate that there's no genuine conclusion, no true understanding of what happened.

I just couldn't get into the plot of this book.
I liked the plot on paper, but I was so lost, that I got halfway through the book and was feeling like I really had to trudge through it to continue.
This just wasn't my cup of tea and I like most teas.

The good: Curled up on a great snowy day this was a creepy getaway. The writing gives the perfect eerie atmospheric setting and the book sucks you in very quickly. The more you get to know our main players the more you want to unravel the mystery (almost as bad as the protagonist herself.) I picked this up because I am a big true crime junkie and I found theme of disappearing women was dealt with in a really interesting way. Some seem divided but I actually thought the interesting was pretty well done, I’m a fan of a sudden left turn at the end when executed well.
The bad: Certain parts of the story could have been fleshed out better— the protagonists interpersonal relationships seemed kind of hollow and there is never any resolution to this. Some of the secondary characters could’ve been developed a little more because I really enjoyed them.
The Ugly: our protagonist herself is, honestly speaking, kind of insufferable? I was so interested in the story but her internal dialogue was often redundant and grating. She would say she was scum or awful but never changed her behavior or approach to others.

This was good! At times a bit dream-like and weird (definitely helped by the MC who constantly on something and her questionable mental health). That epilogue! *shocked*
