In her memoir, Spears narrates the challenges she has faced from childhood to adulthood, from her family history to her conservatorship. This was certainly eyeopening. While it was clear in the media that there had been abuse of the conservatorship by her dad, the abuse she experienced as a child and onward, seemingly constant trauma in her life, makes one wonder how she managed to survive. While you may have opinions as to Spear's current state of wellbeing, it's clear she needs time to heal from what is described in this memoir, and shows the strength of her character to survive what she has been through.
The audio was well done!

Britney Spears’ memoir is entertaining, shocking, and stomach-turning—and above all it made me think of how women have been controlled over the centuries in the same ways: infantilized while sexually commodified, pain belittled, reproductive choices limited, separated from her children, institutionalized, involuntarily medicated, labor exploited. Britney says something about maybe having some kind of feminist awakening—I really wish this would be.

I had thought about picking this up in Non-Fiction November as an audiobook, but when I grabbed it and realised it was under 6 hours long I decided to just smash it out today while I was at work. This is a really interesting memoir, Spears definitely keeps some stuff to herself but I feel like after everything she's been through that's more than fair. I hope she finally finds some freedom in her life now.

This book was very interesting & just sad that Britney had went through all of those things especially during the 13 yrs. I was just heartbroken, I screamed, in anger & tears reading this book finding out what her family did to her especially her father omg!
This was obviously hard to read through some parts especially the tough subject she discussed. She does a great job explaining her behaviour especially in 2007 why she did what she did!
