This was the first Christie mystery I ever read, and my third reading of it. This time, though, I read it in the midst of going through all of her books chronologically. After reading twenty five or so of her other books before it, what struck me the most was how different it is from her other mystery novels. It does not follow the same formula at all. This time I remembered the ending, so I focused on how she crafts the mystery. Of course, it is nothing short of brilliant. It is a rather cruel story—more of a thriller than a mystery, really. But so much has been modeled off of it since. Once you read it (and if you haven’t, stop reading reviews and just read it already) you know why it is one of the most read books of all time.
