No sé si me veo capaz de hacer una reseña ahora mismo, pero puedo decir que ha sido una lectura muy intensa. En varios sentidos.

Many folks were upset when they found out the prequel would be about the villain Coriolanus Snow. I was a bit wary myself, but this book is FANTASTIC! It gives us a glimpse at Panem and what the Capitol was like closer toward the end of the war and how it affected the people that reside there. This is a much different Capitol than we are used to and it was interesting to read about. I thought focusing on Snow was awesome and exploring his life as a teen in the capital and beyond gives great insight into how he became the President of Panem and an evil force behind the Hunger Games Trilogy.

Surprisingly engrossing read though a bit too long. I would’ve cut a few parts out.

I was actually hesitant about reading this book because I thought it was going to attempt to somehow explain and "justify" President Snow's evil. Because why have a whole book about the life of the villain unless you want to explain his evilness? But also there was that voice inside my head telling me, "You really think Suzanne Collins would write something like that? Have you really read the trilogy?"

Sooo out of curiosity, I gave this book a try and I am glad I did. It was hard to get into at first but once I was halfway, I almost couldn't stop turning the pages.

It was indeed about Snow's life but the plot was not an attempt to make the readers understand or like him. On the contrary, it actually made me hate him even more. Lol.

Being a prequal I found it being so boring in the beginning. It does pick up, and this is to be expected as it has to pick up prior to the "first" book starting. I do believe the movie (if there shall be one) will be better than the book in this rare occasion.
