What the fuck did I just read?
I thought

an abusive parental figure deep frying a child's pet hamster

would be the worst part of this novel. I was very, very wrong. 
The book is a decent ride until the last 15 or so percent in which everything falls apart in an entirely uncomfortable (to put it mildly) way. And I am normally not one to get squeamish about taboo topics and depictions. But what editor let this mess of left-field ending featuring INCEST make it to print?
Seriously, I just want to talk. Mostly to a therapist, but said editor and Feeney need to come with me to pay for the services I now need.

The ending of this book spoiled it for me. I was not loving the slow pace and the weak characters who I could not find any redeeming features but the ending really ruined it for me. Unlike Feeney’s other books,  this one just didn’t hit the right note

What a...strange book lol. Was it good? Sort of? Did it keep me reading and wanting to know where the hell this was going? Yes, it sure did. Very strange twists and things happening in the very last 2 chapters felt way more done for the pure shock of the twist than something that actually makes sense. But! It was still an entertaining read and kept me hooked, so it was good for that!
