Read this in one sitting! Suspenseful thriller that keeps you wondering until the end.
I really hope there’s a follow up.

I have enjoyed this book very much! I enjoy the suspense the author brings to the book. This book talks about some very scary issues for doctors and kids. It may hit home for many parents yet not being a parent I still see how scary this book was. I enjoyed the characters and I was sad for the mother in this story. I would read more from this author. This was a great thriller book for me! *This book was given to me for free at my request from NetGalley and I provided this voluntary review.*

Never thought I'd see an anti-vax mystery!

Ok, first of all, I only got to page 21 so there is a possibility that this book completely transformed into something actually readable later on, but I doubt it.

I am one of those people who think that reading is always good for you, but this book made me doubt that. I honestly felt like I would have ended up dummer if I kept on going on. The book starts off by introducing a complete caricature character and how he falls in love with this beautiful AND intelligent waitress and marries her. Great. Then we move on to hear about the main character's work life through lines such as these: "But presentations from pharmaceutical corporations were important. All the doctors and nurse practitioners relied heavily on them for information on new drugs. With a visit from a drug manufacturer, they could learn everything they needed to know about a pharmaceutical in as little as five to ten minutes and start writing prescriptions immediately".

Someone mentioned in another review that this book is anti-vax propaganda and based on the above, I agree.

This is a good story with most of it revolving around an immunoceutical; a vaccine or preventative type drug for children. I can see this happening. This was a sad story and it feels like it should and might be a series? I guess I will have to keep watch. I’m going to do research and check. This does not make me trust doctors and pediatricians. Oh well, I double check things myself anyway. Doctors are human too. I don’t even agree with some of my pets’ vaccinations.
This book really makes you think: how much DO the doctors know and which ones care; and how much of it are they told to leave out? How much of these new meds are a bonus payday ? Shudder. Very informative and thought provoking. It also shows how alcoholism can destroy a bright future.

Fast-paced, with interesting characters and backstories. This book moved at breakneck speed, with two parallel mysteries, involving Dr. Daniel Winters whose professional and personal lives are about to come to a head. Incredibly well-done build-up on both, only to fizzle somewhat at the end. The conflicts in this book weren't so much resolved as they were ... ended. I'm not sure whether I would recommend this one, only because the end was so much of a letdown. I listened on Audible and the performance was unobjectionable, if not stellar. I would try this author again.
