While there were a few problems in Winter White, they didn't stop me from enjoying this wonderful novel. The characters, especially Mira and Izzie, are genuine and flawed. The drama revolves around a family trying to cope with various obstacles and growing stronger in the process, and you root for everyone involved. I'm definitely going to read the next book in the series, [b:The Grass is Always Greener|8865909|The Grass is Always Greener|Brindle Chase|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1281761656s/8865909.jpg|13741322], and thankfully I won't have to wait too long as it will be released this coming April.

I loved Belles and I loved this one too! The last 100 pages always are my favorite when all the drama unfolds. I can't wait to get my hands on the third one.

Winter White by Jen Calonita
Grade: A
Summary: Isabelle Scott and Mirabelle Monroe are still reeling from the revelation that they share more than just the roof over their heads. The media has pounced on their story, and while Izzie and Mira have each put on a happy public face, someone is leaking their true feelings to the press. It seems as if the world is watching their every move, but at least the girls have each other.
With cotillion season right around the corner, however, Izzie and Mira have barely had time to process their newfound sisterhood. Mira has dreamed of making her debut in a gorgeous white gown forever--now if only she had an escort... Izzie, meanwhile, is still struggling to find her place in Emerald Cove, which seems ever more impossible with EC mean girls, young and old, trying to keep her down. As cotillion preparations heat up, there are dance steps to learn, manners to perfect... and secret initiations to complete?
It's time for the gowns to go on and the gloves to come off.

The Good: There's a cotillion. A cotillion. Ignore my girlish squeals. I think I truly am a Southern belle at heart. I liked how Mirabelle-and this time, Isabelle-got character development. I enjoyed the ending. Christmas! Okay, now I'm just spazzing over random things that make me happy.

The Bad: Ugh, if I could, I'd rant about how annoying I find Brayden. Seriously, he's one of the worst characters I've ever seen. I wasn't a fan of Dylan or Kylie either (Kylie is even worse in the next book). I kept thinking Dylan was in cahoots with Savannah, to be honest. Also, *SPOILER ALERT* I'm getting tired of traitors. Lucas in book one, Callista in this one. Especially because I really like Callista and thought she was a good person! Jen Calonita seems to love her mean girls and traitors, that's for sure. *END SPOILER*

The Ugly: Same as with Belles. Not any bad language that I can remember, and making out is as bad as it gets. Although there is a character who was born out of wedlock, so what's implied there isn't great.

A cute story. As Mira and Izzie prepare for cotillion and Bill Monroe's senate campaign revs up, there is certainly no gossip girl-esque drama. It's like one of those reality TV shows that you can't really relate to, but is fun to watch anyway (or in this case read.) There were some things about this book that felt a little out of place. The cliff hanger, for one, at the end was weird and seemed to come out of nowhere. It didn't relate to anything that happened in this book. Maybe it sets up the next book? But, even then, I don't know why it was included in this book. And I didn't really understand Mira's unrelenting anger against her father. It was worse than Izzie's, even though she's the one that should have been angrier. Also, the main conflict seemed very similar to that of the first book, making it feel unoriginal. Despite these issues, it's still fun and worth the read.

Sometimes, Isabelle's voice just got on my nerves! I get that she's been hurt and she had valid reasons to be apprhensive, but the way it was written, it was so annoyingly whiny. Otherwise, I enjoyed it some. Can't wait to meet Zoe, and read the third one.

This book was just as good as the first book in the series. I semi guessed the twist this time around. I love the narrator for this series too!

The secrets are out... or are they???

Who would have thought that Izzie and Mira would finally have something in common - and not only with what has been revealed, but also sharing the same feelings towards the same person. The media is all over it, but the girls know how to handle themselves in front of the cameras. Or at least, they thought they did.

In Winter White, Izzie and Mira are trying to get along. They are trying to lead as normal a life that they can in Emerald Cover and get ready for their cotillion. Mira has dreamed of cotillion since as long as she can remember. And is so excited to be able to share everything, even the initiations, alongside Izzie. Izzie has no intentions in doing cotillion, but seeing how much this means to Mira and her aunt, she decides to go along with it. And soon discovers that their is more to cotillion than just a pretty white dress.

In between the drama, twists and turns, Izzie and Mira are learning from one another, becoming friends and also discovering themselves. And there is never a dull moment in Emerald Cover - new characters to add some extra spice to the story-line, I could not put this book down.
Jen Calonita's writing is so spot on and captivating. Everyone is so relatable and enticing - I cannot wait to see what they'll be doing next.
AND, Winter White has one of the best cliff-hangers I have read in a long time! Seriously! I don't like being left like this, but it was one that was totally unexpected and exciting - it is going to be another wonderful installment to this series! I cannot wait to read THE GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER!
