EXTREMELY 90s feel to it, but I'll keep reading the series

The book started fine. The prologue was somewhat cliche but other than that, the next few chapters were alright. But then came that slow-ass "mystery" part of the book. Marla, the protagonist spends most of the time narrating how confused and conflicted she is and it is written in such an uninteresting way. Her character intrigued me at first and I was rooting for her but then, I got annoyed with her. I understand that she just got into an accident and has amnesia but does the narration have to be so boring?

The romance was annoying. Marla and Nick are just there thinking about how sexy the other is. I can't feel any romance. There's no build up with the tension and chemistry. Fine, Nick and Marla had a past and they still have feelings for each other so there's probably no need for build up. Here's the thing. The romance is still supposed to make you feel things but I literally don't feel anything for those two's relationship. Actually, I don't really feel anything for any of the characters.

This book was good. I like the whole amnesia trope so that was nice. I loved the writing style and found it to be rather addicting.

It was ok. Quick mystery, but forgettable. Am I becoming a mystery snob,?

Typically thrillers enthral me the entire time, but that wasn't the case with this book. This story started off SLOW and that's why I gave it a 3 out of 5 stars. However, toward the end of the book it really started to pick up! But, I'll be honest I thought about putting this book down multiple times.

Pros: Fantastic Character development. I loved that the elements of nature in the book were foreboding. And there's a bit of a love triangle that intrigued me.

The story is set in San Francisco. Marla Cahill wakes up from a car accident to have lost her memory. As she starts to uncover the mystery that is her life and her identity people around her are being murdered. Marla starts to question who she thinks she is and her relationships. Can she trust anyone? Can Marla figure out why bodies are piling up left and right and the connection she has to the deceased before she's next on the hit list?

predictable with a nice twist

Many parts of this story was very predictable, however the end had a nice twist. Good read, really enjoyed it.

Loved the book as far as the plot was concerned but the narrator was horrid and the writing of the " romance " scenes were just so lame. Harlequin romance meets thriller/ mystery.
