Ik had wat moeite met Grady in het begin, hij was echt een verschrikkelijk onvolwassen persoon. Maar toen ik hem beter leerde kennen en hij zijn leven ging beteren, kon ik hem wel waarderen.

Mooi boek!

I received this Kindle book in a Goodreads giveaway.

I should have read a little closer about this book before I entered this giveaway. This is a Christian romance, which is a genre I very, very rarely read. I just couldn't get into this book and I thought about DNF'ing, but I finished it, because I did receive as a giveaway.

I didn't feel the chemistry between the characters, I didn't find their antagonistic dialogue very witty, which is romance catnip for me. I also didn't feel like the references to faith flowed in the story. I'm not going to rate this book, because it isn't a a book I typically would not read, so do not feel it is fair for me to rate.

I've read all of Courtney's novels and I think this is among the best! I loved the characters and Harbor Pointe made me think a little bit of Stars Hollow (Gilmore Girls). The town really came alive for me and I could picture the shops and the unique characters sprinkled throughout the story. I loved the mismatched relationship between Quinn and Grady and the way their stories developed throughout the book.

Put this one on your summer reading list!

Disclosure: I received a copy of the book from the publisher as part of the Tyndale Blog Network. Review reflects my honest opinion.

This is the second book by Courtney Walsh that takes place in Harbor Pointe, Michigan and I was delighted to revisit this quaint little town and to see some of my favorite characters from “Just Look Up”.

This story follows Grady and Quinn, two broken people who at first glance seem like opposites but after digging deeper, they come to realize they have a lot in common.

I loved the character development that occurred in both of the main characters. It was gradual and felt genuine. I also loved the inclusion of the side characters…Quinn’s dad, her friends, and the judge were developed very well and made a nice addition to the story.

The faith content was great in the story. I loved how Quinn stuck to her morals regarding purity and dating, but there were also discussions about redemption and forgiveness in regards to this.

I enjoyed this story but not as much as the first in the series. I didn’t relate to the characters as much in this book and at times I found that the plot was becoming a bit repetitive.

My Rating: 3 1/2 stars.

I loved being back in Harbor Pointe in this novel. I think Quinn’s character accurately showed how living without letting go can keep someone from moving forward. Grady also had a lot of growing up to do, which was only possible once he was stuck in this small town. I love how well the plot was written. I think that Walsh really has a way with making a story so real, that you feel like you’re in the story with her characters.

Redemption. Romance. New Beginnings. All are present in Courtney Walsh's Just Let Go.

When Quinn and Grady meet, they're both people trapped by their past. A tragedy in Grady's past has led him to focus on a singular goal, winning an Olympic gold medal, yet as the years go by, he becomes more and more reckless. After Quinn was abandoned by someone she loved, she became fearful, regimented, and judgmental. The two are polar opposites in some ways, yet in others they're very much the same, and it's soon obvious to everyone except Quinn that they belong together. But before they can move forward with each other, they must each come to terms with the past and learn to let go of the things holding them back.

I loved so many things about this novel! From the swoony romance (which gets right down to the kissing—no waiting until the 75% mark in this book!) to Quinn's family to Grady's relationship with Quinn's nephew to the slowly-revealed truth about what happened in both Quinn's and Grady's pasts, Just Let Go sparkles.

The setting of Harbor Pointe, a small town where everyone knows everyone and the inhabitants are delightfully quirky, very much reminds me of Melissa Tagg's Maple Valley. As a huge fan of Tagg's series, this discovery made me incredibly happy. If you're looking for a sweet romance full of heart, you'll definitely want to pick up Just Let Go. 5 stars.

Note: This is the second Harbor Pointe novel, but each book stands alone. Book one features Ryan and Lane, two minor characters in this book, and I'm so glad that I have a copy waiting for me on my TBR shelf!

On a scale of cotton candy to Brussels sprouts, Just Let Go by Courtney Walsh is honey lavender ice cream. A frigid dessert with surprising yet tasty flavors that melts across the tongue. Dark chocolate flakes sprinkled cut through the sweet.

[Copy received. Opinions always my own.]

Quinn, a new flower shop owner, has her life perfectly planned, and then Olympian Grady crashes into town and into Quinn's life. For all his infuriating wildness, Grady makes a place for himself in the small town. Quinn isn't so sure what to do with this man, who seems set on flipping her world upside down.

Courtney Walsh came into my world with her novella from the Where We Belong novella collection. I was eager to read another book by her. Just Let Go brings to life two very different types of people, a perfect example of "opposites attract." I tend to love this type of tension although I did want Quinn to soften up a bit faster! Both Quinn and Grady had to grow for their relationship to work, and I liked seeing that reality.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and actually had to face a couple of issues in my own life (namely fear) that this novel brought right up to the surface (thanks but no thanks...hahaha). That's the true gift of story. While the characters were going on an emotional journey, I was too--not just with their journey but with my own.

If you love romance, winter settings, and "opposites attracting," then I think you'll really love Just Let Go by Courtney Walsh.

Oh my goodness, that cover! So gorgeous! And the story inside? It's most definitely one that you don't want to miss. Mrs. Walsh creates fabulous characters that come to life in her stories. The story line is captivating and instantly hooks the reader from the first page.

Quinn and Grady are magnificent characters! I loved them both so much! They both stole a piece of my heart instantly and I felt them come to life through the story. I felt like I was truly a part of the lives, watching the scenes play out like a movie. I felt their emotions, their needs, all of it as if they were truly a part of me. That was a phenomenal feeling!

This story of second chances, romance, and letting go of the pain of the past is absolutely breath taking. You'll be swept away to Harbor Pointe and taken on a whirlwind roller coaster ride. The messages woven into the story line bring the reader not only closer to the characters, but to our Heavenly Father. This is definitely a 5 star worthy novel and one  that I will keep on my shelf to read over and over again. Bravo, Mrs. Walsh! Can't wait for more!

About this book:

“For Quinn Collins, buying the flower shop in downtown Harbor Pointe fulfills a childhood dream, but also gives her the chance to stick it to her mom, who owned the store before skipping town twenty years ago and never looking back. Completing much-needed renovations, however, while also competing for a prestigious flower competition with her mother as the head judge, soon has Quinn in over her head. Not that she'd ever ask for help.
Luckily, she may not need to. Quinn's father and his meddling friends find the perfect solution in notorious Olympic skier Grady Benson, who had only planned on passing through the old-fashioned lakeside town. But when a heated confrontation leads to property damage, helping Quinn as a community-service sentence seems like the quickest way out--and the best way to avoid more negative press.
Quinn finds Grady reckless and entitled; he thinks she's uptight and too regimented. Yet as the two begin to hammer and saw, Quinn sees glimpses of the vulnerability behind the bravado, and Grady learns from her passion and determination, qualities he seems to have lost along the way. But when a well-intentioned omission has devastating consequences, Grady finds himself cast out of town--and Quinn's life--possibly forever. Forced to face the hurt holding her back, Quinn must finally let go or risk missing out on the adventure of a lifetime.”

Early High School Teens- One Star (and a half)
Older High School Teens- Two Stars (and a half)
My personal Rating- Two Stars
{Add ½ for older girls who enjoy redemptive stories.}
Hmm. I’m a bit torn on what to rate this book. I liked that both main characters felt real with their thought processing and actions, but I definitely didn’t agree with all the choices they made or have made in the past. Those mentions were on the lighter side than some books I’ve read in the past with the same “bad boy/player thread”, but it still effected the ratings. The main guy, Grady, does have a checkered past, but Quinn also has struggles from when her mom left her and her family. The Spiritual Content was good, but I think I would have preferred a bit more. Older girls who enjoy redemption stories might enjoy this book the best, but it wasn’t my cup of tea with some content mentioned.

I had to rewrite this review because it sounded ridiculous so lets try this again. :)

my first 5 star book of the year, and goodness does it deserve it! I usually don't read contemporary fiction because a lot of times it just doesn't sound appealing to me. however, I saw this cover at barnes and noble and when I read the back, it sounded really interesting so I decided I might give it a try and I'm so glad I did! it really was a sweet book, not too heavy on the romance and with characters that you want to root for.

the small town setting gave the plot such a nice charm and reminded me a little bit of Nicholas Sparks. I love the idea of living in a small town, so reading books that have that same setting usually appeal to me.

I really enjoyed every single character that graced the pages, even the supporting ones. being able to read both Quinn and Grady's point of views really made me want to cheer them on, both as individuals and as a couple. while both were irritating in their own ways, I still couldn't find it in my heart to dislike them. I wanted them to grow, and I understood them even if I couldn't relate to them on a personal level.

I absolutely recommend this book, and I will definitely be checking out the rest of the books in the series!
