Ok, very mixed feelings about this one. On the one hand, I loved it. Voice was very authentic and quirky. Was really interested in all the characters and their outcomes.
However! I really didn't enjoy the scenes from her fanfiction and from the fictitious novel. I ended up mostly skimming those and as they were a significant part of the book, I felt like I missed out. I just couldn't get in to them, and as the book went on they got longer and longer so despite my positive review, I feel like I only really read about 2/3 of the book.

Yep I’m giving 3 stars and just because of Levi! I liked him so much for the first second he appeared, he is the best character here, Cath annoys me so much in some parts and tbh the fanfic parts were a skip for me, I wish the story was more fun, but it was cute tho!

I just love this book so much. I read it many times when I was younger, but this was a lot more special, because I was also in my freshman year of uni. I love the characters and it is just an amazing book to relax to.

I didn't love this the way I loved Eleanor & Park but it's very similar and I recognized a lot of Cath in myself and my friends. The little neuroses, the fear of entirely unsinister people, trusting those who are so obviously sinister to everyone else, and of course the comfort of existing within the world of fanfiction. I love the Simon Snow as an alternate universe Harry Potter story (although it would have been even better if Harry Potter and all other real world pop culture was never mentioned at all since it breaks the alternate universe illusion) and the emotions feel genuine and earned. The cuddle porn is adequately cutesy and Cath herself is reasonably charming in her unfriendliness-- it's just hard to move away from the Eleanor & Park comparisons as they are written by the same author in a very similar style.

I became a Rainbow Rowell fan after reading Attachments. A fun book I could totally relate to because I love writing e-mails to people who are close to me.

I did not have any particular expectations from Fangirl. I thought it would be this light, breezy read, not too taxing on the brain. Little did I know this would turn out to be a far more personal book for me.

Fangirl is a coming-of-age story of 18-year old Cath who has just started college but if you can read between the lines, it is far more than that. Books always make me a bit emotional and while reading Fangirl I realized, I was, in many ways, exactly like the protagonist Cath. Her fears, her insecurities, her confusion - it was like reading a third person narrative about myself. Cath's obsession with fantasy novels, her worry for her loved ones, her reluctance to mingle with new people, her preference for staying alone - I could relate to everything. That's why I found it to be a very difficult book to read.

The book is well-written. There is no unnecessary drama and it is filled with real and believable characters. The chapters end with extracts from Cath's favourite Simon Snow book series and that I thought really didn't add a lot to the plot. That aside, though, it's a lovely book and a delightful read for fans of YA fiction.

There is no plague more feared, more dreaded than the horrible Reading Slump. Yes, even the name strikes terror in the souls of the brave. The worst part is that, while experiencing a reading slump, every book seems bland and boring. At first, that's how it was for this book but then...

It's a bird! It's a plain! NO! IT'S AN AUDIOBOOK!!! *APPLUASE*

I got to listening to this on OverDrive and I listened for six. Hours. Straight. It was a really easy read. I loved the character's. Especially, Cath. She was just so relatable. On a random note, I loved the twilight reference. Also, I enjoyed reading the Simon Snow snippets even though the didn't relate to the story.

Wren and Cath's relationship was great until the got into the fight. But all of Cath's flashbacks showed what a great relationship they had.

Audio Comments: It was probably a 3.5 Audio.

Bottom Line:
4 Stars: A great coming of age read. Perfect in almost every way.
Age Recommendation: 13+ (Swearing, Kissing, Mentions of Sex)
TW: Substance Abuse, Anxiety, Homophobia
