 Only adding a review on another book in this series to touch on two things: one, it was clear in each sequel that the authors thought extremely little of their readers as at least 1/4 of each book was just reminding the reader of things that had already happened, like we couldn't remember the tiny bit of plot development of each book. I will add my second point under content warnings and hide it as a spoiler but I encourage anyone considering reading or letting their child read it to open it first.

Graphic: Adult/minor relationship and Rape

In book two a twenty five year old professor started flirting with the sixteen year old main character. In book three they "make love" but let's call it what it is, statutory rape. And the protagonist is painted as being in the wrong for "cheating". Except for the professor eventually being revealed as having seduced the MC at the behest of the villain, it is never made clear how inappropriate his behavior would be even if he wasn't working with the "bad guy". So statutory rape is only bad because he lied about why he approached her, and she's still in the wrong because she got raped while she had a boyfriend.

Based on my review of the fourth book in this series, Untamed, I guess we could just say this book 'needs improvement' and call it a day ;-)

for some reason i am rabidly rereading these with my friend and they r wayyy more problematic* than i remember wtf

* casual racism, use of the r word as an adjective, use of “gayly” when describing how a gay character speaks, using the gay and poc characters as just sides and not furthering the plot or their development at all, constant slut shaming, creepy professor-student relationship

Wowser. Zoey just can't seem to keep trouble off her plate. I totally knew what Loren was doing, and I wanted to wring Zoey's neck for having sex with him. I was so angry with her, and so much in love with Erik...Good intense story.
