Not as suspenseful as I'd hoped, nor was the resolution satisfying. It felt as though there was something that perhaps was edited out, or that I was totally missing about this - not the Tremblay technique that I've come to expect. I nearly DNFd it but it was so short I finished it anyway.

I could not stay focused on this one. I think parts were very good, but other parts just weren't moving the way I wanted them to. I liked the child perspective chapters a lot, but some of the other perspectives they looped around to were very hard for me to understand. It could have been the audio book as well, I did not like the person reading. Maybe better just physically read.

Overall, everything that happens in the book (plot, character actions, character motives, etc) are all clear and make sense, but something is missing still. I would not not recommend, but it is not my go to.

SpoilerI did however really like the openness of the ending. It being unclear what the truth is and how they go forward is very important to this plot and I think saved this book from being lower from me.
