A kajillion trauma. Magic blood. Finally a warrior who believes a woman can. Transparent cat? Lots and lots of wiggling parasites.

this alpha male dominic is a little different from the rest of the other carpathians. he's not so pushy about getting together...much. and genuinely falls in love with her first then mates her in the end. the end of the book leaves me breathless for the next volume. i think its zacharias since he's like on the edge already. and then maybe that french girl gabriel and franny adopted with that wolf guardian carpathian guy. :] with the mind-blowing results of solange's blood exchange, i think christine feehan is hinting at the future ending of her series. i hope it ends well.

Solange and Dominic’s relationship began before they actually met each other. They were dream lovers of sorts, that neither believed to be real people.

Solange is a jaguar shifter and Dominic is a Carpathian of the Dragonseeker lineage. She has major trust issues when it comes to men, due to all the violence she has seen inflicted upon women by her male jaguar counterparts.

When they finally do meet, of course he’s already in love with her. He has to prove to her that is love for her is true and hot just because she’s his soulmate and has to love her because he has no choice in the matter.

Solange seemed to have a lot of issues with self esteem as well, especially when it came to be a woman, or feminine, not just a warrior. She always needed constant assurances and it became rather whiny.

As a reader I didn’t have any kind of investment in this lifemate pair other than the fact that their story is a part of the series. I would have loved to have seen appearances from past Carpathians. I always enjoy catching up with previous members of the series.

I read this book during a relocation trip. We spent lots of time in the car looking at houses over a 5 day period and I was glad for the reading. This was an amazing love story. It slams into you and you never see it coming. Feehan has a way of doing this much like the story of the Dark Prince; book 1 in the Dark Series.

Such a great story! Loved learning what happened to Dominic and Solange. Such a great couple. Leaning to support each other when they've been through hell.
At times the violence against women can get a bit heavy.

Dominic, has gone through his existence alone and as one of the most powerful Carpathians he knows what better way to go down than with honor, so he ingests himself with parasitic blood so that he can blend in with the other vampires, and accomplish his mission that he set out to do. Only there is one hitch to the plan on his way to accomplishing his goal he finds his lifemate-Solange, who is everything he could have hoped for in a mate, and knows that he can't bind her to him and that he must let her go because he gave an oath. Solange has always felt alone, being a warrior and trying to save the females of her race, and now she plans on giving up once she destroys Broderick her father who has destroyed everyone and everything that she has ever loved. Then Dominic comes into her life and her world changes, and she knows deep in her heart that she will fight with every breath to keep him at her side...forever
Dark Peril is the 21st in the Dark series. I have just loved reading this series, and although I did enjoy reading Dark Peril it wasn't my favorite but still a intriguing read. I loved the whole edge in the story where they both plan to die but right before they do so their life mate comes into their lives---interesting timing wouldnt you say? The passion between Dominic and Solange is full of heat and spiraling desire that only intensifies the connection between the two. What I have always enjoyed about Feehan's books is the vivid pictures she brings to life and she definitely brought this story to life as well. Overall it was a enjoyable read, not one that I would buy or re read, but it was still a book to relax myself in.

My Favorite Quote

Dominic didn't stand out as much as I'd hoped, what with all his legendary status, but he was great with Solange, knowing she needed to be a warrior. He let her take her time at learning to also embrace the parts of her that weren't warrior, as well. As for Solange, I hadn't liked her very much in the other books. She was quite abrasive, and very against all men. In this one, however, we learn that she had been meeting Dominic in dreams for years. They each thought they'd invented the other, and it was so funny when they discovered that they were both real people. The plots with the vampires, as well as the stuff with the jaguars after Solange kept the book from being too slow, but the primary focus was on the romance, and Solange's growth. While this wasn't my favorite, I found it enjoyable, and I'm curious what some of the discoveries in this story hold for future installments.
