The Mortal Instruments is probably going to be that series where if you ask me in person, I'll deny enjoying it but I will gladly rub it against my bosom repeatedly while I'm home alone, sobbing through my over dramatic feelings about it.

Pretty much everything I felt about City of Bones applies to this one as well. It kept a great pace despite its length that kept me interested all the way through and the ending really makes me want to jump right into the next one.

Overall, not perfect but still pretty awesome. There's still potential for it to turn into a shitshow, but it hasn't yet. For that, I raise my glass to it.

En mi opinión estuvo mejor que City of Bones. Me interesan lo suficiente para seguir escuchando los audiolibros, y, según los fans de esta autora, con cada libro mejoraba su escritura y quiero comprobarlo

I can't help but give this five stars. It was really good. It's funny, because I read the last book and gave it four, instead of five stars because I was mad about the ending. I wasn't sure if I'd continue the series because of it, but I read some other review comments saying to keep reading because the ending in City of Glass will make up for it.

Of course, that's not this book, but it got me curious so I decided to continue with the series.

In this one there is also a lot of action and a lot of interesting things happen - some of which are a little strange. To be exact the part where Clary and Jace have to have this passionate kiss in order to release her from the faeries. Then they're both still really in love (despite the fact that they think they're brother and sister) and he wants to run away with her. It's a bit weird and morally disturbing.

BUT (and a big but), at the same time, I'm pretty sure I know what happens at the end of City of Glass (by guessing) so I'm not as grossed out about it. To elaborate, in this book there are numerous hints as to what I BELIEVE will happen at the end of the next book:

1) The Queen of the Seelie Court says, "Ask your father, next time you see him, what blood runs in your veins, Jonathan." When he did ask his father (Valentine), he looked surprised but didn't actually answer the question.
2) Next, in the midst of fighting on the ship, after the Inquisitor realized she was wrong and after looking at a scar on Jace's shoulder she said in a surprised tone that hinted that she just realized something, "All those years, when you were growing up -- you truly thought you were Michael Wayland's son?" Before being able to explain but trying to do so, of course, something happened and she was inevitably killed.
3) Finally, when Clary and Valentine were fighting/talking, Valentine told her that her mother had thought that he had turned his first child into a monster and that she didn't want him to do the same to her second child (Clary), but she was too late. Clary defended herself, saying that her and Jace were not monsters and he said, "I wasn't talking about--" and was cut off. It seemed as though he was going to say "...Jace"

Anyways, to me, it's obvious that Jace is not really his son, by blood. I think what happened and what will be revealed, is that Jace was really raised by Valentine, but he was not Valentine's blood son. He was actually Michael Wayland's true son. When Valentine saw his son dead in the ashes of his home, I think that he killed Wayland (putting his medallion around his neck to make it look like him) and took Wayland's son to raise as his own.

So there you have it. That is what I'm not grossed out by the possible romance between Clary and Jace. It's sort of obvious, but maybe because I'm looking for it. I don't know, but I'm happy nonetheless of the possibility and will keep reading.

As for the rest of the book, I just liked the book overall because it was a real page turner. While there's still a lot of conflict and drama going on, I can understand that it would need to continue to keep the series going. It's strange to have Simon being a vampire, and even stranger that he can go in the sun. I hope she explains that. But I think it has to do with being cut by that certain blade that's the mortal instrument. Just a theory though.

Anyways, I have the next one to start on right away. A great, gripping series that keeps you wanting more. I just hope I'm right about Clary and Jace, otherwise it'd be really kind of gross to have that in the story.
