4.5 - such a fun use of transparencies!

This book is amazing! Love the vellum pages and the fun laters they literally add to the story! Hard to have in the library though. This one will be saved for read alouds so the pages don't get destroyed. Now I fully understand why they're all wrapped in plastic at the store as even the cover had a vellu later over it! Visually stunning!

Oliver Jeffers is one of my favorite children’s book creators, but this is in a whole wonderful category all its own. Jeffers uses vellum paper to allow you to see what the main character sees - a house devoid of ghosts - and then turn the page to see ghosts going about their business in the house they haunt. It is so fun to discover the ghosts in each picture and the illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. A must have for any Halloween collection - and for anyone who loves children’s books in general.

A beautifully presented book with a simple story and interesting layovers. But 9yo said “Meh”. Awaiting 6yo’s opinion!

Edit: Bella loved it!
