A very sweet and melancholy love story! Ellen is a confused, newly married woman who runs into her 'most important ex' by chance, and wonders about what could have been.

The story was so very real, with her love, her doubts, and her dreams. It was very well written, and so true it made my heart hurt for her!

I didn't really like the very last chapter though, and could truly have done without it. This was not really the kind of book that had to have the 'one year later' part.

not my favorite of hers but still good. Her writing always sucks me right in. I think it’s a good book about responsibility, faithfulness, choices, consequences, finding yourself, independence, lol I respect that she didn’t allow it to go any further, obviously it’s distasteful and clearly wrong to go to the extent she did but it was evident the only way she was going to come to the conclusion is on her own

People arn't actually like this right?
Has Giffin ever met ... people?

If these books, are based on what she thinks real life and real relationships are like... then I'm worried.

This is the first Emily Griffin book that I have had the chance to read and I loved it! It was a fantastic book!

This was a good book, consistent with my prior comments that Emily Giffin writes solid books with a lot more substance than a normal "chick lit" author. That said, she again touched on the whole adultery theme, which really bothers me. The main theme of this book is "The One Who Got Away." The main character is newly married when she randomly runs into the ex-boyfriend who broke her heart. This sparks a major struggle for her as she tries to decide whether she is happy in her current life or wants to try to recapture the past. Although her struggle was pretty heartfelt and probably common, I just couldn't relate to her or sympathize with her or in any way condone the way that she handled the situation.

This was a nice, fast read.

While I didn’t particularly love the characters or the plot, I appreciated the character development.

I found the storyline and ending to be quite unrealistic but it is a fiction story so…

I just think that Emily Griffin doesn't know how to write a book without someone cheating on their significant other.

The story kinda sucked and I don't really see any redemption with Ellen whatsoever. She emotionally and physically cheated on her husband even if they didn't go all the way.

I really didn’t care for this one. Emily Giffin novels are usually just average for me, but in this one I didn’t particularly like many of the characters. I feel like the main character settled for money, possibly love, but also money. She was comfortable with Andy because of Margot. It was familiar. But then being tempted by an ex it made her doubt it? I’m just not really a fan of reading about infidelity. It was just so-so for me.

I’d probably give it a 3.5. I rarely read these girly novels anymore, but they are good for a soft break I suppose between more challenging books. Ellen is pretty relatable but the storyline seems overrated. I could see myself reading about Giffin book though.
