This book is so many more layers than the title, 'sweet as pie' implies. Having read most of Beth's books I should have known this would get steamy, emotional and complicated. There's no messing around the two MC's, Luca and Oliver, meet very early on and their interest in each other is made clear so we get straight to the romance. This story just keeps upping the romance, using food to woo and fall in love over. Both passionate about the food they create, which most certainly shines through to how passionate they are with each other. I seriously feel I have never experienced the love that these two found, the author managed to emote something incredible, but completely believable. The intimate scenes got better and more intense as their story evolved and added a lot more steam to the story.  Lots of amazing secondary characters, mainly family, but they bought another element to the story.  I just loved Oliver's mum. The story ends happy, it's just the start of their relationship but lots of permanent changes that you know it will last forever. The love story that intertwines with the history of the town, and Oliver's family, is heartfelt and poignant. It's a 5 star read when I'm still perched between the two MC's after the book has ended needing to know what they are doing tomorrow. A sweet romance story, but with some sharpness and snark to stop it being sickly. This book seriously needs to come with a recipe book too. I received an advance review copy for free, and Ieaving this review voluntarily.

Sweet as Pie is a spin-off from the Food Truck Warriors series and helps us get to know Luca, Gabe's overbearing brother that we meet in On A Roll, and see again in Ride or Die, which is Ren's story... dominant, forceful and always right, he takes on the challenge of helping to turn things around at his aunt's restaurant on the other side of the US... and finds the sweet baker who will stand up to his overbearing ways...

This book is a low angst, small town, sweet romp with just enough spice both in and out of the kitchen and a pair of men that realize they're better together than apart... it was a great read with honest communication and a really lovely way to get to know both men...

Now, I need Enzo's story!
