This was such a great book, I loved it! We were introduced to Luca in the Food Truck Warrior series and I'm glad to get a more in depth look into him and why he is the way he is. Great characters with a wonderful storyline keeps your attention from start to finish.

Such a sweet romance

Sweet as pie is a sweet and lovely, low angst MM romance between grumpy workaholic restaurant chain owner, Luca, who's flown across the US to fix his aunt's failing deli, and the bakery owner, Oliver, who keeps running into him.

In this you'll find: low angst MM romance; 2 gay MCs; small town setting; dealing with family pressures; some spice; big family and found family; and a HEA

It is no a secret by now that I am a big fan of [a:Beth Bolden|8137900|Beth Bolden|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1397886875p2/8137900.jpg]'s books and one thing that she does, and that I absolutely love, is to intertwine characters from her different series or, as in this case, bring us Luca, who is Gabe's brother in one of her Food Trucks books and who we think of as the "bad" guy in that story, but like everything in life, each person has their version of how they live it and why.

Here we see that he is just a man dedicated to his family, who out of fear of disappointing them and above all, disappointing his grandmother, who is no longer here but remains a strong presence for him. He learned everything he knows about cooking from her, and she, perhaps without realizing it, was the one who caused him to carry the weight of family and business on his shoulders from a very young age, practically forgetting how to enjoy life, and making him to look cold and uptight on the outside, but lonely and beleaguered on the inside.

But then, on a trip to help his aunt with her restaurant, he meets Oliver. He is almost the opposite of Luca. I mean, he's dedicated to his bakery, has plans to expand it, and hasn't taken a vacation in years. But the difference is that Oliver does it for himself, for his own growth, enjoying the process step by step despite the difficulties that may arise and the fatigue. And despite so much work, he tries to enjoy the little things in life, even if he doesn't have much time to meet someone. He is much more carefree and easy going than Luca, but nevertheless, it is all these differences that make that spark of attraction they feel since day one grow and grow. Oliver wants to show him that there is much more to life than work and obligations, and Luca wants to absorb as much of that happiness that he feels every time he is around Oliver.

Of course, obstacles don't take long to appear, first and foremost, the fact that they both live on opposite sides of the country. And now they must decide what is more important, family, or that love that only comes once in a lifetime.

I was given an advanced copy and wrote voluntarily a review.

Luca, who is the oldest Moretti and in charge of several restaurants, which he works himself to the bone for. He doesn't even have time to date. But when his mom and dad ask him to go to North Carolina to help his aunt's deli. When he arrives, he meet resistance from both his aunt and his cousin but the highlight of his trip is when he meets Oliver, the owner of a local bakery. The way Luca and Oliver's relationship develop is the sweetest and I loved their HEA. A great story and highly recommended!

This book is so many more layers than the title, 'sweet as pie' implies. Having read most of Beth's books I should have known this would get steamy, emotional and complicated. There's no messing around the two MC's, Luca and Oliver, meet very early on and their interest in each other is made clear so we get straight to the romance. This story just keeps upping the romance, using food to woo and fall in love over. Both passionate about the food they create, which most certainly shines through to how passionate they are with each other. I seriously feel I have never experienced the love that these two found, the author managed to emote something incredible, but completely believable. The intimate scenes got better and more intense as their story evolved and added a lot more steam to the story.  Lots of amazing secondary characters, mainly family, but they bought another element to the story.  I just loved Oliver's mum. The story ends happy, it's just the start of their relationship but lots of permanent changes that you know it will last forever. The love story that intertwines with the history of the town, and Oliver's family, is heartfelt and poignant. It's a 5 star read when I'm still perched between the two MC's after the book has ended needing to know what they are doing tomorrow. A sweet romance story, but with some sharpness and snark to stop it being sickly. This book seriously needs to come with a recipe book too. I received an advance review copy for free, and Ieaving this review voluntarily.

Sweet as Pie is a spin-off from the Food Truck Warriors series and helps us get to know Luca, Gabe's overbearing brother that we meet in On A Roll, and see again in Ride or Die, which is Ren's story... dominant, forceful and always right, he takes on the challenge of helping to turn things around at his aunt's restaurant on the other side of the US... and finds the sweet baker who will stand up to his overbearing ways...

This book is a low angst, small town, sweet romp with just enough spice both in and out of the kitchen and a pair of men that realize they're better together than apart... it was a great read with honest communication and a really lovely way to get to know both men...

Now, I need Enzo's story!
