Colby is literally and figuratively a freaking hero. First, because he’s a firefighter(HOT) runs into a house that is on fire and rescues a baby. He then jumps out of a window breaks a couple of things and is then in hospital with a breathing tube down his throat and then he meets his PT Lydia aka soulmate and wife. When he was conscious again they had a white-board to communicate and the last thing he wrote on that before he passed out du to the drugs the doctors gave him was “soulmate”. And he also rescues a woman from getting killed by her husband.

Lydia went through some tough shit. First her husband dies because he got shot in the head, because he was trying to save someone due to being a police officer and then she also finds out she is pregnant with their third child.

During their PT sessions Colby fell in love with Lydia. She did too but she couldn’t have a relationship with a patient cause it’s against the rule. THE POOL SCENE? where they had their first kiss? But they then went to Colby’s parents house and had sex there. VERY cool but because she had trauma she cried every time they had sex. Her therapist then suggests to not have any intercorse or kissing for 2 months and for Lydia just to tell Colby everything about her life. Which of course worked.

Lydia’s kids were amazing I loved them very much. AND I LOVED Colby’s siblings . They were all very funny and had ridiculous nicknames for each other.
LOVED the end. Together they had another child, Mia, and she got pregnant again with their fifth child.

Similar to another persons review, there was just a lot of pointless convos between other side characters, not a lot of storytelling, and some of the language just came across very awkward and corny. Found myself skimming so many pages to get to the relevant pieces of the story

I enjoyed this book. I think initially I had the wrong expectation because I had asked for a recommendation about a sunny, happy-go-lucky MMC which doesn’t really describe Colby. But once I let go of this expectation and embraced the inherent angst in a story about 2 people who are going through it emotionally I really enjoyed this book

So when I was on a Kindle Unlimited binge late last year (after I first discovered it) I read like… hundreds of books. And severely neglected my Goodreads. So I have read this before, but I didn’t log it.

Actually, I’ve read this MANY times before, because it’s one of those books that’s got so many good bits it’s so easy to re-read.

I adore Lauren Rowe. Her books are serious but fairly low angst. In this one, the hero Colby is a firefighter whose been seriously injured on the job. The heroine Lydia wins up as his physical therapist and feels an instant connection to him as her husband was a first responder (police officer) killed on the job 3 years earlier. She also has 3 children.

This book is insta-love, which I usually hate, but it really, really worked for me. Maybe because the “insta-love" is a mutual attraction they both feel while neither can act on it? Colby is injured, Lydia is his PT, and then they hold off because she’s dealing with emotions from being with a new man for the first time.

But there was so, so much I loved about this book. Colby is a genuine, protective, smart, sweet, gentlemanly hero. The relationship between him and Lydia’s kids were just… too cute. And I’ve read all the Morgan brothers books so I adore the whole family.

Also, the steamy parts - once it gets going?! Hot. Especially when they try to keep things “Jane Austen” level by just talking… or kissing… or touching.

I was really interested in the premise of this story based on the blurb, but the first half of the book was just way too over the top for me. Saturated with really strange dialogue and not much storytelling, just pages and pages of pointless conversation. I also can’t believe any real people actually talk to each other like that, cringey and contrived at times. I was not sure I wanted to keep reading. That being said, the second half of the story where Colby tries to win over Lydia’s kids was actually extremely beautiful, and I liked the ending.

I loved this story

Colby knew he loved Lydia from first site, even if he was high on pain killers in the ICU. He was so cute. He wouldn’t let Lydia’s hands go. Lydia was attracted to him too but she had a big problem with being a widow of a first responder and falling hard for another one.

I just loved their communications to get to know each other better to work through Lydia’s hesitancy. Their game they played was some kind of HAWT. Her three kids were as cute and sweet as pie with their distinct personalities.

Those Morgan brothers were all characters and I can see future books being written about them

3.75⭐️ I love that colby relentlessly pursue lydia and how they communicate to each other. Colby is defo my new book boyfriend just that fam/brothers dynamic is a little too much and take more scenes in the stories than necessary, more things can be addressed but overall I enjoyed this one
