this book made me feel like shit and i’m not sure that – being the hopeless idealist that i am – i liked it. needless to say this probably is how i’m gonna end up in five years’ time so i better brace myself i guess.

Honestly this was a depressing book. It gave me a heavy feeling when reading it and I wanted to finish it quickly and move on with my life. Not to say it was bad but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone as I wouldn’t want them to feel depressed reading it and if that was the intention, then you’ve got a winner.

The author is quite good at painting a full scene, but I struggled with the limited plot and quick transitions between perspectives.

Soooo true, girlie. They may not get you- but i DO.
Millie is trapped in this cycle of boredom, self inflicted punishment, and mundanity; a recipe for misery. She's 30 and behaves like a lost girl in her early 20s.
i've been on her side of things, similar thoughts during existential crises and overall disdain for america's work culture.. it was a cathartic read for me and id definitely go back to this book when i'm heavily feeling dissatisfied in my own life for similar reasons. That being said, it reaffirms the yucky thoughts i have and keeps me feeling yucky. should be read in small dosages
