Bought this when I was in my Salem Witch Trials era. It was barely about the trials in the beginning. Their lives were so hard it was hard to read about. The red book was mentioned a lot and it had no resolution at all. I thought it was going to be a major revelation and it just didn’t matter at all.

Overall I liked this book, but there were a lot of slow parts. It was an interesting view on the Salem witch trials.

This is a great one about the Salem Witch trial but told from a young girl's point of view. I always love reading about how people lived in the past. This book is well researched and does a good job of explaining day-to-day life and how the witch hunt slowly grew into a frenzy in the town of Salem.

Really brought to life several of the Salem Witch Trial landmarks I toured during our Boston days. Having a family connection always seems to help bring historical characters to life and you could even smell the dankness of the prison cells from her descriptions.

I have no words to explain it! The intensity of this story is amazing! I've never had this kind of a reaction to a book. I had such intense feelings while reading this, that at some points I almost started crying (of course, I'm kind of a baby anyway). The Salem Witch Trials are such a horrible part of this country's history, but I've never really looked into it that well. While being a historical fiction, it still holds so much of the true events of the time, having been researched for five years before being written. I highly recommend reading this book!

Wow, I don't know what I was expecting when I started this book, but it wasn't what I recieved. The first half of this book was cold and heartless (though full of heart) and it left me feeling hollow. As soon as the mother gets arrested the story picked up and it was a downhill emotional spiral after! Wow. A beautifully moving story about family. I loved it, but will never read it again!

I'm bored. Feels like I've read this same story a hundred times before. Abandoning at 29%.
