I devoured this book by D.S Butler.
This is the 8th book in her series about Detective Karen Hart. This time, the case is a personal one, as one of the team are attacked and left for dead. Karen and the rest of the team need to find out who is responsible.
I am really enjoying this series, and the audiobook narrator, is really fantastic, her different voices are easy to distinguish between each other and they are the same from one book to the next. Looking forward to getting into the 9th one next!

This time DI Karen Hart and her team have a personal interest when one of their own is attacked. Without any indication of what DC Jones was investigating, the team must consider many angles, from drugs to sex trafficking. Throw in a small gangland war and a surprise birthday party for Karen's beau and you have a diverting thriller.

This is book 8 in the series and they do all follow a similar format which is getting a bit predictable.
But still an easy read and enjoyable.
Moving straight on to book 9!

At first, Before the Dawn, grabbed my attention right away as Detective Karen Hart and her colleagues searched for who attacked her partner DC Jones. The story covers all the usual suspects with some shady characters added in. I felt like the story was lacking in suspense at times and towards the end I just wanted to know who actually attacked Sophie and if she survived the coma. It dragged on a little once the writer finally revealed whodunnit. I have not read any of the other books in this series, so I didn't know what to expect and it may be the writer's typical style for this series. I would still recommend this read to those who love crime stories. I would actually rate this 3.5 stars, but it's not an option.
