My god does Wells like to yap. Far too many characters for a book where so little happens

It's a short story but it felt pretty long to me. The end was exciting and nice to read. Everything before not that much.

Highly reminiscent of Frankenstein, the Picture of Dorian Gray, and the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Although the essence of the plot is similar, it has a markedly more comedic air as opposed to Frankenstein’s tragedy, Dorian Gray’s wittily twisted morality, and Jekyll & Hyde’s murder mystery feel. Even if it followed the standard “person (usually a scientist) comes across something contrary to the laws of nature and carnage ensues” plot formula, I always enjoy seeing new interpretations by different authors

This book presents that lust for power, immortality, and in this case invisibility, is a dangerous thing. One has to wonder, what if a genuinely good person gained the power of invisibility? Would they retreat from the world, or attempt to blend in, concealing themselves under layers of bandages? Would the knowledge of being unseen tempt even the best of us into wrongdoing? Would we all eventually reveal the monsters within?
At first glance, it’s a straightforward thriller, but I was captivated by the deeper moral questions it raised.
