I didn't care for most of the characters. That's a problem.
There was little character development - and I guess that's the reason. But also so the reader would be surprised.
By the end, it was better. Not my favorite.
oh well. onward.

I really liked the premise, but the varying viewpoints and separate storylines made this difficult to follow. I think others with better attention spans might enjoy this more.

Hoaky, but good. Did not end like I would have wanted

I enjoyed it and didn’t see all of the endings coming. I wasn’t enthralled, but did enjoy it.

However, “woah” is non-standard in the U.S. Lordy, but that was irritating!

3.5 stars. Weird but not bad. Not amazing either.

I've been looking for a good thriller for the past six months. This book is it! It was a little too long and had way too many characters. I was only able to follow it by keeping notes. I still don't know why one thing happened, but I don't feel the need to reread the chapter to find out that one thing. Some things didn't need to be included, but it doesn't hurt the overall story. This isn't a funny book, but the one funny line: "We couldn't be sure. We took some gummies." was great.
I'm looking forward to reading more from Lisa Unger.

Apparently, Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six was not my first Lisa Unger read. My first was Ink and Bone back in October 2018, but I have zero recollection of the book. Even after reading the Goodreads plot summary, my mind is blank.

Unger really likes the words "fecund" and "ebullient", using each several times throughout the book. And "slut" was hurled 2-3 times, although the main character winces and "mentions" slut-shaming.

There is a good deal of body image talk and general body talk. This is the vehicle by which Unger describes her characters, most of which are hot-hot-hot.

The base concept (DNA testing) is very interesting, and while there were some cringe-y moments, I vacillated between liking the story and really liking it. So... what do I rate it? Three stars? Four stars? I really wish that Goodreads offered a 1/2-star option.

A suspenseful read that moved fast to the end. I enjoyed it!

Holy hell! What a wild ride! This was one of the most original stories and plots! I think only Lisa Unger would be able to intertwine the numerous characters and their stories this well!

Predictable and wordy.
Honestly didn’t care for any character.
