Wonderfully written and a heartbreaking novel. Had me on the edge the entire time, I couldn’t put it down. It’s been a bit since I read it, and if I could read it again for the first time, I would. It does touch on some heavy themes, most of which are pretty self-explanatory, but it does a great job telling them. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a more darker story and are prepared for some angst and grieving with the characters. Though it’s a relatively short time span covered in the book, the writing makes it seem like it takes longer - but in a good way. Love it, and would read it again for the first time if I could!

I really loved this book! It was so unique, at least compared to my other reads. It grabbed my attention and kept it throughout the entire book. The book centers around a school shooting, however you don’t get the pov of the actual shooter. I’ve seen some reviews that didn’t like this since it wasn’t really a psychological analysis of that type of person. However, for me I liked having the multiple povs of other characters that are all experiencing this event happening in different ways. You also can still see everyone’s connection to the shooter and get a glimpse into their mind without actually hearing it from the shooter themselves. I think it creates some tension because the characters don’t know their next move and therefore neither do you as the reader.
Having the multiple povs kept the pace up throughout. I also like that while their thoughts were obviosuly focused on the shooting and shooter, you still got some backstory for them, that still related to the rest of the story. I read this really fast because I was so invested. I thought it was really good and unique, especially about such a heavy topic. It definitely made me reflect on the issue at hand. I would highly recommend it!

This book revolves around the POV of 4 main characters experiencing a school shooting. Obviously a difficult subject to write on and one that’s going to upset people one way or the other. I’m left feeling bummed out, but in a satisfying way. I don’t love every aspect of this book, however I think the author did what she intended to. To invoke emotion through writing is a talent

TW/CW: mass shooting, gun violence, mentions of abuse, mentions of grief, mentions of Alzheimer's, mentions of rape.

Reading this was painful. Upsetting. I probably won't read another book like it in the future.

Tyler said he "didn't want to be alone anymore". He was never alone. He isolated himself in his grief and then when he successfully pushed ppl away, he turned that grief to anger. I can't feel bad for him though. He wasn't a good person before the shooting. As much as autumn tried to paint him as a saint because he was there for her. he's homophobic, a rap*st, and manipulative/controlling.

I was intrigued by this and needed a second book for a BOGO. The subject sounded heavy but caught my attention and found myself purchasing it.  Pulled this out of the TBR last week and devoured it. It was really well written and had only a mild slow down toward the last 75 pages. The teen characters were flawed and struggling as most of us do but it was hard not to see all sides including the antagonist. Grief is  crappy and sometimes feels absolutely impossible to bear and we’re not all capable of getting through it.  This one will remain in my library.
