This has potential but the last 100 pages were just... A Choice...
like how she got Jamie out of his trauma 'funk' and then only realising that because she knows the future for the time, she has a duty or maybe not to do something??? Just came out of nowhere.
i also found the writing at times to be dense and a slog to get through all of the descriptions and another thing
so much sexual harassment? Like did it have to be almost every male character?? Such an uncomfortable time

I have read Outlander before and it was an easy 5 stars, so I thought I would enjoy the audiobook.

It was nice to listen to someone else reading however I found Davinas voice very monotone and her accents weren’t the best.

BEST BOOK EVER. Why on earth did it take me so long to read this? Two months to read the first half of the book and 24 hrs to read the second half. I can feel the worst bookhangover ever happening... Outlander is definitely in the top 10 favorites of my life now ❤

I wanted to love this series! It took my fourth attempt to actually finish this first book though. It was too long and very boring for me. I would really enjoy a chapter where there was some sort of adventure occurring, only to have it end abruptly with some screwed up love scene. I really grew to despise the main character too. I hope the tv show is more entertaining!

Outlander is sooooo amazing I cannot put it into words! It took me ages to pick it up, because I did not expect too much of this book. I could not have been more wrong. This book will blow you mind!
You will follow the story of Claire, who is on her second honey moon with her husband Frank, when she touches some standing stones and enters the world of the Scottish Highlands in the year 1743. And this is where she meets James Fraser (and YES I have a total crush on him). Now she is torn between her developing love to Jamie and going back in her own time to her own husband.
But this is only the romantic aspect of it. The book is packed with details of the Scottish Highlands history and I learned so much. The story has some really unexpected twists and also goes some quite dark places. You will hold your breath and will have to put it down, to follow and process all the wonderful but also nasty and brutal stuff happening. I would also say this book is for an older audience. Maybe 16 and up? I do really really love this book and can’t wait to pick up the next one.

Diana Gabaldon writes a phenomenal novel, brimming with character and adventure. I highly enjoyed this book.
I did watch the show first, and loved it, in hindsight it was an incredible page-to-screen adaptation.
I adore these characters, of course Jamie is the best thing since sliced bread.

Only qualm was the pacing near the end of the book, at 800 pages in I just wanted to reach the last one.

What a start to a series!

My favorite kinds of books are romantic historical fiction. And this book is a great story and fits into that category. I loved following Claire and Jamie and the strength they both had to have to make it though all the terrible injustices done to them.
