**********Contains Spoilers**********

I really thoroughly enjoyed this book. Lane was undercover and his cover was blown which left him blind as severely injured and doesn’t need or want pity or a caretaker or babysitter as he calls it. Felix has been hired to look after Lane a man who was left blind after a drink driver crashed into him and has no idea of the real story as soon as he meets Lane he realises that he’s not wanted and that Lane is being a stubborn a*sehole but Felix wont take Lane’s sh*t and will give it back to him. Yes, their relationship progresses very quickly which I really didn’t mind due to the danger they put themselves through with working Lane’s case even though he’s currently not technically a cop due to his injuries and on leave due his department trying to work out where to put him now and Felix is just happy to go along for the ride. Felix totally cracked me up with his compulsive need to snoop, eavesdrop or take stuff like cars or wallets. I loved the warped sense of humour and how Felix treated Lane like he would pre-injury. Yes, sometimes a lot of it was mean but Lane found it funny so who cares. I’ve been in a wheelchair for ten years and can totally understand laughing at my situation and I’m okay with others making jokes about it as I can definitely tell if someone is being a complete w*nker. It’s fully understandable that not everyone can laugh about their situation and that’s totally okay. I loved how Lane and Felix’s love story started and can’t wait to see what shenanigans they get up to in book two. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.

" Why is it that the first person to ever notice me is a man that can no longer see me? "

After discovering the Hitman Series by Alice Winters I am now in the process of devouring all of her backlist. This has made me infinitely happier because I am reading one hit after another. I've yet to find something written by her I do not like and this book is no exception.

The brand of humor in this one may not be for everyone. Felix and Lane love to bust each others balls and since Lane has recently become blind, there are blind jokes a plenty. Before Felix came into the picture Lane was basically just existing. He stewed in his own misery. Felix comes in as a hired caretaker like breath of fresh air. He has no patience for Lane feeling sorry for himself. Unfortunately for Lane he also has no cooking skills either. This gives Lane an abundance of ammo for their snarky banter in response to all the blind jokes.

It warmed my heart to see Lane start to come out of his shell a bit. Winters has a knack for writing MCs with disabilities that speak of their strength. Lane refuses to be pitied or seen as weak. He strives to maintain his independence as much as possible, sometimes to the frustration of others ie. Felix. Despite all this, Felix and Lane head off on a "case" to try and find Lane's missing friend James. Their top suspect? The person who took Lane's sight. Talk about dangerous.

Once the moonlighting as police business is finished we still have more fun! Lane takes Felix home to meet the parentals. This appears to be a first time experience for both Felix and Lane. It was absolutely adorable seeing how nervous Felix was.

“Do they even know you’re gay?” I ask.

“Wait…I’m gay? I thought you were a woman this whole time,” he says as he squeezes my hand.

This one ends in a good place, but since I'm late to the party I know there is also a book 2 and 3 already out. I will be moving right along to book 2 next. 4.5 stars

Alice Winters is a new favourite author after listening to Leland and Cassels books I thought this was a good series to listen to. Although Lane & Felix isn’t as funny as the Hitman series it’s a close second a great plot and characters .

What I Thought About The Book - WOW, This book is absolute GOLD! Lane and Felix are fantastic. I absolutely love Felix, he really is the perfect person for Lane he doesn't treat him any differently because he's blind which is all Lane really wants. I love how he teases him. The story is interesting, fast-paced, well written and keeps you hooked right from the beginning. Alice Winters is an amazing author, her books, characters and plots are absolutely brilliant. I don't have a bad word to say about this book or series.

This series currently holds the crown for most favourite. I love, loveeee Felix and Lane. I love how much Felix pulls Lane back to life, boosting him and full on dragging him out of depression. I just want Felix to be my best friend.
