I received an early copy of this book to review. What can I say about this book other than the plot was underwhelming and the characterization weak. I forced my self to read each subsequent chapter after the first. The first book was good, the second is, for the most part, a failure in my opinion.

Another competition, another person who loves Kali instantly, another kind of bland book. The pacing was poor and most of the characters lacked depth, but I find myself wanting to keep reading because of redeeming part of this series- the world building and the unique magic system.

Tournament

I'm giving this book a 5star because it had me turning pages. The Kindred and the Prince start a relationship that no one can understand but does that relationship spark something else? Will they unite and take on the Voider together and defeat the demon?

Not as enjoyable as the first book. It felt a bit too repetitive with the tournaments and all, and Kalinda constantly complaining about how she’s a slave to the throne she doesn’t want but has to fight for anyway. I did enjoy seeing other characters with bhuta powers and I’m in love with Indah. This books gave me a “Harry Potter in the Triwizard Tournament” vibe. Im excited to see what’s next.
