kate tempest has written a sort of epic poem, intertwining the lives of two couples and their kids as they grow up. i was reminded that kate tempest writes songs as well, as the lines had rhyme and sound. quite good and interesting, and easy to read.

I don't think I got it? The music was cool.and the poetic nature but I don't get the plot.

Very dark. I’ve never read a modernized epic poem before, but this was that!

I really enjoyed this book! In a world where modern poetry is dominated by short poems, prime for instagram, Kate’s modern epic was a great contrast.

Writing in the style of Homer’s Oddessy, but staring the modern man, it was the perfect combination of old and new that I didn’t know I needed.

Although I liked the idea of Brand New Ancients, this kind of poetry is not my thing. I wish the whole poem rhymed more or didn't have any rhyming at all, and I couldn't bring myself to care for the characters in this.
Spoiler The ending also left a bad taste in my mouth. He hooks up with a Thai girl and his pension becomes a fortune? Unnecessary way to end things, honestly.
