While there are a lot of stereotypes and common tropes in here (special teens with abilities better than trained adults, a love triangle), I couldn’t put this one down. If you read other true crime or if you enjoyed other YA thrillers like A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder or similar, you’ll like this one. For its target audience, some of the writing that was cringy to me probably wouldn’t be a problem. It has some pretty dark moments and some graphic descriptions of the murder victims, but nothing unsuitable to 8th grade and up. Planning to continue in the series.

i always heard people raving about this series, so I couldn't help myself. I had to see if it was worth the hype. honestly? I get it. it was a super fun read, especially because I love all things criminal and fbi and shit. it's always been very fascinating to me, so this was enjoyable because it had a lot of explanations about certain elements of crime. my only complaints are the relationships between Cassie and Michael and Cassie and Dean. it felt rushed, and I understood her confusion about who she liked, but it felt as if the romance was a side thought and not anything truly important. hopefully, when I read the other books, I'll be happier with that whole dynamic. otherwise, great read.
