“Once you've learned shame, it settles into your skin like a tattoo. You can cover it up, but you can't scrub off the sense of inadequacy.”

When I brought this book I didn't know what to expect. I saw it in the shelves of my local bookstore and the tittle caught my attention. Upon reading the summary, I decided to buy it because it seemed like something that I would like.

And I was right! I really like it! Look, the way that the story is structured, I can see why people may think that this is a somewhat one direction fanfic turned book. There isn't anything that tells me that one direction (and the fan theories about some members of the band having a secret relationship) were an inspiration to the book but comparisons can be made. Nonetheless, lets review the book by what it is and not what could be. And I liked it! Its cute, heartwarming and has fluff, just the sorta of thing that I was looking to read at the time that I started this book.

So, I would recommend it if you want to read something sweet, light and cute.

I truly enjoyed this book, I loved reading how Zacks character came to terms with his sexuality and how he developed throughout the book.
The bands friendship worked really well together, relationships within this book were really well thought out and written.

However,  the reason I deducted a .5 was due to the lack of concern over Angel, I feel his addiction was overlooked and made his relationships between everyone in the band seem worthless. No one ensured his safety until he was far to gone. Furthermore, his recovery was glazed over - I would've loved more detail over how that impact him and the band mates especially since most situations he was joking about the love interests.
Another fault was within a Zacks dynamic with his mother, she is comforting and open yet when he comes out she compares him to his father who had little relevance within the story. It felt like a poor choice - yes not every one has a nice coming out story, but this felt like they felt the need to make another plot for drama within a book which has a dramatic theme from the beginning.

Overall, I feel this book was well written and thought out. I truly enjoyed the romance, I'd recommend to anyone interested.

if you ever see this book and think about picking it up, please do because it’s an incredible book!!

the only reason i rated it 4.75 stars instead of 5 stars is because i really felt like it needed an epilogue or an extra chapter that showed a glimpse of what their future looked like.🫶

This was a very lovely book! Very real and interesting insight into the pressures and hardships of celebrity life. It was a beautiful love story.

Truthfully I just got bored. Maybe it's because I'm in a reading slump and when that happens I need more fast pace action pact books. Though I will say I did not like the way it was written. Neither did I like the 2 first person povs. I found that the two main characters blended together.

I forgot how much I loved reading about famous bands, and the implications of fame. We follow Ruben and Zach who are both apart of the biggest boyband in the world "Saturday". Ruben is gay and is out to his friends and family, but the record label won't let him come out to the world in fear of backlash. Meanwhile Zach starts to explore his sexuality and realises he is bisexual. Zach and Ruben enter a relationship that to begin with is supported by their record label, but it slowly becomes clear that they will try to keep Ruben and Zach silent for as long as possible. This book explores the pressures of the media, and the dark side of the music industry. Drug use and addiction is also discussed, with Angel one of the members of the band using them as a way to get away from the pressure.
I felt this book was pretty well written, It was pretty obvious that Ruben and Zach were written by different authors, as there was a slight shift in tone and at times was slightly jarring. I would of liked to see a bit more discussion around mental health this was very loosely touched upon but could of been developed further. I would have also liked to see more of Jon, as I didn't feel that we got enough of him, or the depth that we got with the other characters.
