This book ripped my heart open. Beautiful writing, but heavy.

This book is a minefield of trigger warnings (incestuous sexual assault being the biggest, imo). It was beautifully written, but deeply sad and I rarely felt happy or content reading it.

Amazing character development. Enjoyed the writing style, the nature elements woven throughout and learning about Cherokee culture.

Was a very difficult read at some points, but so raw and honest.

I was catatonic after finishing this. I loved it, but this absolutely tore me to pieces. The writing is phenomenal and visceral. From page 1, I was invested in the characters, in the family. Please please check trigger warnings before reading this. I don’t know if anyone can be emotionally prepared for this book.
