Still light, not as funny as I remember, but has good moments. But… also, meh? The writing style leads to this being a super quick read, I just didn’t feel connected to the characters.
3 stars…but I won’t change the rating since this is my 3rd read and the concept of a dentist and vampire together always makes me chuckle.

I really don't know what to think about this book.
I was definitely different for sure, and it has definitely intrigued me to continue on with the series.
The ending though was left me kinda blase' I mean the way it ended was like.... ??? WTF??? that's it?
Well here's to the next book.

I really rather enjoyed this. I have to say from thehorrendous cover art and the cheesy title and the premise about the broken fang, my expectations weren't all that high. I was mostly just hoping to have a few good chuckles, a bit of vampire lite comic relief. But I have to say, that was by no means all I got.
I was actually rather intrigued by the vampire world Sparks has created here. You've got your good vampires who are striving to be as little a threat to humans as possible- using science to create synthetic blood and banning drinking for the flesh. And then you've got the malcontents who are, in their mind, true vampires, that feed on humans without regard, drinking them to the quick.
In this book we meet Roman, the leader of one of the largest American vampire covens. A 544 year old vamp with a very poor opinion of himself. A man with a brilliant scientific mind who has made many breakthroughs for vampire society with his blood replacement drinks. He is also working on a formula to help them stay awake (and alive) during the day. Apart from this work, though, Roman has very little in his life that he truly enjoys, and is rather maudlin at the beginning of the book.
Then we meet our lovely dentist Shanna. She is currently in the witness protection programme. She needs protection; Roman needs a dentist. And so they team up, and of course, this being paranormal romance land, it's not long before they start to have feelings for each other.
The romance element was quite well played out. There was a fair bit of worldbuilding but it was all interesting enough. I've read a number of vampire series' and I've never read one with this particular view on science and vamp self improvement before. I also really liked Roman's bodyguards - a bunch of kilt-wearing highlanders! (It's like she looked into my mind and went "Okay, she likes vampires? Check. She likes hunky highlanders? Check. She likes situational comedy and juvenile humour? Check"). It could have been written specifically for me!
In summation, while this book won't be going on any of my favourites list, it certainly was very enjoyable and I will definitely be reading the rest of the series whenever I need a bit of light relief.

Amusing.
How many times do you get to read an absurdly humorous mortalxvampire romance that doesn't consist of ideas of a chosen 'soulmate' and incessant sexual activity? Not many times, I'd guess.
The entire setting of this story is crazy fun. There's a five hundred old virgin vampire who loses one of his fangs, test-running a sex toy. NOT in the filthy way, mind you.
Then the story progresses quite wonderfully from there.
Hiding an entire coven, battling with blood-lust and trying to keep their groins in control, the whole story goes on with sarcastic remarks and denial of feelings. Oh, let's not forget about the mental-manipulation and Scottish Kilts.
There was a particular idea of 'Vampire Sex' that i found quite convenient, I think y'all might too. Humans should've been capable of it, the world would be different by now. For good or worse lol.
All in all; a quick, easy read.

I recently read this book for the second time, and I enjoyed it even more than the first time. Shanna is so funny and passionate and Roman is so strong and sexy. I will admit, it took forever for Shanna to catch up on things in the beginning but after she did everything moved pretty quickly. The twists were enthralling. The Scottish security team was a delight the whole way through. This is just such a fun and kind of lightly steamy book! (There is one particularly sexy scene and omg it’s so hot).

DNF stopped at 38%.
I love the title and the synopsis, but it feels like after that the author went, "I need to actually write the thing now???" And just slapped the most minimal effort, juvenile shit they could manage in 1/2 hour and then ran away before someone could manage to actually read it and realize they had accidentally stepped on the keyboard instead of actually writing anything worth reading.
The characters are flat tropes made by someone with no love for romance, supernatural, or fun. The male character brings up god every other second and how boring and #angsty he is and for some reason he is not likable. Who knows why. The female character is a ridiculous, hysterical, unthinking mess of a creature who never manages to have a rational thought because her brain was removed to make room for the sass she has to deal out to the male character so we can be told she is infuriating and yet also charming. We are also told she is pure of heart, and just get out of here with that bullshit.
She also is described as being a size 12 with a b cup bra but also as "busty" and that is not what this body would look like. This was obviously ghost-written by someone who has never had to look at a bra before with any knowledge of how they actually work.
There are so many skeevy elements in here regarding women that its astonishing they managed to fit so much into less only 1/3 of the book. I can hardly imagine what wonders awaited me in the rest what with the off putting actions done with a sex doll and with some thoughts of rape by our male lead toward the female (how I did not fall for the romance I will never know).
This book is at best a disappointment and a waste of time with not a single redeeming feature within the pages. The only good thing is the title and synopsis, so if you just read the cover and back of the book you have got the streamlined, A+ experience and you do not need to worry about anything else.

It was nice to go back and see where it all started. Roman and Shanna are the backbone of it all and seeing how they came together was exciting.
