I started and abandoned 3 or 4 different Christmas books before I managed to get into this one. I liked the juxtaposition between the two protagonists, and also the focus on the friends relationship over just solely romantic. It had the standard Christmas love story trope too, but a more complex narrative in the other one. Good. Wholesome. Christmassy.

A lovely heartwarming story at Christmas. Slightly annoying characters that assume too much and don't communicate enough!

This was definitely more genre/women's fiction than romance, although HEA(s) certainly figure into it. It's the story of family and friendships set against the backdrop of Lapland at Christmas time. The setting was wonderful - I loved all the detail and really felt like I was there with the characters dog-sledding and seeing the northern lights. My only real problem was with how all everyone's problems were wrapped up so neatly. It was a little too perfect.

I liked this book a lot more than I initially thought I would. A married couple sending their daughter off on a Christmas trip with their two best friends that hate each other to try and work on their issues, while the best friends have to try and make Christmas magical for the child and then falling in love along with way was *chef's kiss*. I just wish there has been more conflict. Christy and Seb solved their problems way too easily, and Zac and Alix starting liking each other way too soon. Zac had apparently been carrying a torch for Alix for five years and was basically already in love with her to begin with.

Despite that, I really did enjoy the plot, characters, and setting.

This was a pretty good read, especially until about 70-77% of the way in. I enjoyed backstory of the characters and reading about the conflicts they were facing. This book deals with friendships just as much as it does romance. It did seem like certain things seemed repetitive in the last part of the story and I started losing a little in.
This was a new to me author, and I think I might look into her other books.

Appreciated for the setting and the festive feeling. Felt a bit drawn out but was a good choice for the holidays.

Not terrible, not wonderful, but a rather mediocre holiday diversion. My complaint isn’t that it was predictable, because of course it was predictable, but rather that it was perhaps not magical enough? I wanted feel more of the feels.

I am a huge fan of Morgan, but this one was not what I have come to expect from her writing. I found the characters frustrating and the plot was cliché and repetitive. Despite being a holiday storyline, it seemed too heavy. I enjoyed Alix/Zac romance much more than Christy/Zeb. I felt like poor Aunt Robyn should have received more much attention than she did.

I was introduced to Sarah Morgan's books at the time through the book ‘Sleepless in Manhattan’, the first part of the series 'From Manhattan with love'. Very nice books with not too much depth, with those books you could still notice that she wrote bouquet series booklets for years, at least that’s my thoughts. Nowadays she writes two books a year, a Christmas book and a summer book, and I must say that these books have much more depth, of course there is also a spontaneous and sensual love affair but it is of secondary importance to the story.

This story is about two young women who have been friends for years and the aunt of one of the two. The often fairly long chapters are written alternately from the perspective of the three different people. Christy, who always wants to do everything perfectly, has a marital crisis that she wants to solve at any cost. She therefore sends her friend Alix with her young daughter Holly to her aunt in Lapland for them to join later. Her husband Seb thinks it's a big responsibility for Alix and asks his friend Zac to come along. Alix does not really like this when she hears about it, Zac on the other hand…

Arriving in Lapland it turns out that they have to sleep together in the chalet where Christy & Seb will be staying. Fortunately there is a couch because Alix does not want to know anything from Zac, you slowly hear why she does not want to know anything from Zac. You will also find out about the history of Christy and why Christy is such a perfectionist, and how the relationship with the aunt, Robyn, is. Robyn is the sister of Christy's deceased mother. There is a lot of drama in their history but well, there is sometimes in reality too. Every now and then I was only a little annoyed by Christy who wanted to do and arrange everything perfectly, that's not always possible. The arctic environment was pleasantly described and for that reason alone it is a perfect Christmas read.

I do love a Christmas read. I believe this is the first of Sarah Morgan’s books I’ve read but it’s the perfect winter romance. Verging on a one bed trope with a little angst, I can’t wait to read more!
