A few funny lines in the whole book. That’s it. It was a real slog for me to read. I wanted to DNF it and probably should’ve! Don’t bother unless you’re super into British politics and someone’s slightly out of touch although still left leaning views on it all.

Really enjoyed this, so many laugh out loud moments. Listened to the audio, brightened up many a car journey!

Not for me. Couldn't finish.

As it turns out, the same stream of consciousness non sequitur humor that I enjoy in David's TV show writing and appearances doesn't follow through in his book writing.

David Mitchell just appeals to me. His voice is soothing, his writing is droll and entertaining. So any audiobook of his is going to be a hit with me. The only reason for a four star review is that I'm not so immersed in British culture that I am familiar with every one of his subjects, so some essays left me guessing a bit. But this, of course, is not his problem. Very entertaining.
