The start of the book… was slow for me. I almost wanted the science talk to be glazed over a little bit so I could get more into the thriller action!
After 1/4 way in, once the husband finally starts picking up speed on his sick wife, I enjoyed the book more. It’s a mix of genres… thriller, love story, contemporary fiction, mystery? Not sure if I loved or hated that part yet.
The author did do a good job putting the pieces of the story back together… but I did not enjoy the ending. Just fell… flat. Blah. Odd way to go out.

This book was slow going at first, but I ended up really enjoying it.

I have mixed feelings on this one. 200 central pages flew by, but the beginning and ending were less compelling.
This novel demonstrates how secrets can fester and turn sinister.

With the cover, I felt obligated to pick this one up on a rainy day, which fit perfectly. Part emotional contemporary & part mystery-lite, in a blend that worked for me! Not super relevant to the story, but I really enjoyed the parts about Emma’s career, studying low tide creatures, especially while in a place I got to experience seeing high/low tides. Lastly, the epilogue was so beautiful!

This book is a hidden gem! A beautiful and welcomed surprise. I don’t want to say more and spoil it, but it was so heartbreaking and so endearing.

A pretty slow build that had me contemplating where or not to continue, but still something I would read again.

WOW. Just when you think you know where this story is going it takes a turn in a different direction.

Emma and Leo have been married for 10 years. They have a beautiful daughter, Ruby. Emma is a well-known marine biologist who once had a show on the BBC. Leo is an obituary writer whose job it is to prepare obits in advance of well-known people's deaths. Just to be ready. When Emma falls ill, Leo decides to research and write about his wife's life, to give her the best obit he can. One she deserves, just in case. But in the course of his research he discovers his wife, as he knows her, doesn't exist.

Leo continues to dig, and Emma continues to hide. They are the love of each other's life, but in Emma's case, there may be another. An absolute page turner!!!!
