Damn near DNFed for the use of "va-jay-jay" and cheesy writing and dialogue. But the smut scenes were just unending and intriguing. Also couldn't help but picture Diesel as Hulk Hogan with a sparkly fanny pack.

Forever one of my favorite books. So funny, kinky, and dark, but that’s what I want! I like how Roxy never feels like a pick me girl, even though that’s often the case with reverse harems.

Dark Romance, Reverse Harem, Stockholm Syndrome, 5 🔥

This was my introduction into dark romance so I certainly dove in head first. Firstly, Roxy is a badass. With a serious case of Stockholm Syndrome and a laundry list of unresolved trauma and abandonment issues but a badass, nonetheless. Some of the Vipers were oddly quite likable. Kenzo was my favorite one. Ryder was the daddy of the group, Garrett was the sweetheart in dyer need of therapy and meds and Deisel was the most horrific character I’ve ever come across. I enjoyed the plot for the first 350 pages or so and then it just seemed to get very repetitive and drag on. Definitely not a book I would recommend to just anymore. But if you’re into body horror and sexual violence type smut then this book is a gold mine.

Honestly surprised by how much I enjoyed this one. It was a lot, but also quite fun. I liked all of the main characters (a few more than others) and although I saw where it was going early on the journey was well-done and rewarding.

I am going to preface this by saying, if you loved this book… I love that for you (and I’m sorry).

This book might have been marginally better had I not listened to the audio and read the physical material instead but… only marginally.

I won’t go on and on about what I didn’t like about it. The audiobook itself is just VILE and hands down one of the top 3 worst audiobooks I’ve ever listened to… but the story itself had a lot of issues, too. But at least it if I had read it with my eyes, I wouldn’t have had to listen to nineteen, yes nineteen, hours of some guy sounding like a bad Disney villain.

I didn’t grow to like or become attached to a single main character. I couldn’t stand Roxy… she’s not funny? But generally all of the dialogue was kind of cringeworthy. The chemistry to me wasn’t very believable and I didn’t feel like the characters really had any growth or actually showed signs of emotional depth. I just wasn’t a fan of the way any of them were written.

But for a book that was clearly written with a loose plot simply to set up some kinky RH smut? It did its job. There is most definitely smut and no shortage of it!

I also learned that if I’m going to commit to a gigantic book with a bunch of dudes banging one girl… I think I actually prefer some sword crossing. It’s more fun. 😋

Tropes:
Enemies to Lovers
Captive/Captors
Reverse Harem

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

This may be the darkest book ever written.  Very gory. I don’t usually have triggers but this book triggered me. I don’t think it’s a bad book at all. But if you have any triggers at all, I would skip this one.
