I found the series to be tedious sometimes, but I loved the first book, and I liked how Afterlife ended up. A satisfying ending.

The story continues right where the cliffhanger in Hourglass ended. Things aren't getting any easier for Lucas and Bianca. She's a wraith and Lucas is a vampire—the very thing he would prefer to die than become. Now they both have to come to terms with their own Afterlives. Lucas need to learn how to control his bloodlust and the only place that can help him is Evernight Academy, which is the worst place for a powerful wraith like Bianca.

"Classes start in two weeks," I said. "At Evernight. You're going to go back there."
Lucas stared at me for a second, then thumped his head against one of the wine racks so that the bottles rattled. "Great. I'm already hearing things. Halfway to crazy."

One thing I really enjoyed, but never really thought I'd want to know before I knew were the reasons behind Mrs. Bethany's actions. I'll never agree with her methods, but I understand her more.

Mrs. Bethany's proud face never changed, but I saw something I'd never expected to see: her eyes filling with tears.

They is never a dull moment in this book and when it seems like they don't have enough to worry about, something happens to prove there can always be more. It might not have the perfect ending I wanted, but it was perfect for this story and not improbably wrapped in a neat bow.

The Evernight series was the second YA series I ever read and one of the reasons I got hooked on series instead of just reading stand-alone books. Claudia Gray has a talent for cliffhangers that leave you on edge and compel you to find out what happens next. The supporting characters are as lovable and developed as the main. I can easily imagine each of them with their own spin-off novels.

Meine Wertung:
4 von 5 Sternen

Before we discuss Afterlife, the final Evernight novel, it’s important to remember where Hourglass (Evernight #3) left us. Claudia Gray did what we would have never imagined and let our lead characters die. Of course, in the paranormal world dead isn’t dead. Former half-vampire Bianca is now a wraith (aka ghost) and her nee vampire hunter boyfriend Lucas has been turned into a vampire, his greatest fear.

I spent the months since finishing Hourglass contemplating how Gray could turn things around. How can Bianca and Lucas move forward? Love can make people overcome insurmountable problems. So, in Afterlife, we find our star-crossed pair fighting for their love as their world comes crashing down.

Bianca has abilities most wraiths do not — she can manifest corporeal form and she can move from place to place with a thought — and the other wraiths want her help. Mrs. Bethany, the Evernight headmistress, is hunting wraiths. So many are captured and going mad inside Evernight’s walls as a result of her seek-and-destroy mission.

Dismissing the wraiths’ requests, she makes her focus Lucas and aiding his adjustment to vampiric life. Her goal is to help him retain who is amid his new bloodlust. And to keep him safe and make this process easier, there is only one place Bianca can take him: back to Evernight Academy.

Now Bianca is hunted. Lucas has to rely on Balthazar, the guy who wanted to be with his girlfriend, and his mom — the leader of the Black Cross — isn’t about to accept her newly vampire son back into the fold.

We’re keeping this one spoiler-free, so we’ll get to the point. Afterlife gives us just what we need: nonstop action, a realistic fight for love and lots of answers. We’re talking why Mrs. Bethany is the like that (oh, you’ll be shocked), why the wraiths wanted Bianca so badly and whether or not Lucas and Bianca will actually make it.

Gray managed to move this story along so quickly with enough turns for minor whiplash, and it works. It has the action I adored in Hourglass and emotional needs and secrets we were first introduced to in Evernight. We promise, Afterlife is a fitting end to the Evernight series.

I figured I finally had to finish this series. I rather wish that I hadn't. Bianca and Lucas are...well...they're a thing.

Vic and Ranulf were the reasons I slogged through this. The end.

The final installment couldn't have ended the series better. It was a perfect ending to the star-crossed romance, the friends and family, and the story. I have loved this series since the first few pages of "Evernight" and I couldn't have asked for a better ending. :)

**If you have not read the first three, don't read below**

Afterlife starts off exactly where Hourglass left us, Bianca is a wraith and Lucas has now been turned into a vampire. Lucas has a tough time adjusting, especially since he never wanted this. They decide the best thing is to return to Evernight Academy with the whole gang: Balthazar, Vic, Ranulf, and even Patrice. While at Evernight, Bianca learns more about being a wraith, Lucas learns about being a vampire, and what they must do to be together. While fighting their own demons, Mrs. Bethany is still in the mist and no one knows where her loyalties lie.

In this final installment, all your favorite characters are back and a few news ones as well. I have loved Bianca from book one and watching her grow and change through out the series has been such a joy to read. There's also Balthazar, he's always been such a great guy and you can't help but love him and feel sorry for him. I'm so happy he's getting his own book and I can't wait to read it! Finally, Lucas. Lucas was probably one of my first fictional boyfriends that I fell in love with. I adore his golden hair and dark green eyes... it's my favorite combo. But, Lucas is so much more than that. He's a fighter, and a protector, and his love for Bianca is unlike anything.

I am so so sooo happy with how this series ended! This series has been one of my favorites and I loved every second of it. It was a perfect ending to a fantastic series. Thank you Claudia Gray! :)

The beginning of this novel moved VERY slowly and Bianca was so annoying. She was just thinking about herself. Then towards the middle, She smartened up and became a stronger character and the book became more intense and the end sequence was just WOW.There were some twists in the book which made the book that much better. I enjoyed this novel and I seriously cant wait for Balthazar's book!!!!!!

Unfortunately, this book took me forever to finish. Forever. I won't give you guys the whole excuse of, "It took me awhile to finish because school got in the way". No. I just wasn't that interested and man, Lucas and Bianca got on my nerves. . . .

Lucas is a vampire now and is seeking help. Evernight is his only sanctuary but Bianca is now a wraith and from recent discovery, Mrs. Bethany has traps for wraiths all over the school. While trying to show Lucas' mother that he's not a monster (Which doesn't turn out well) and figuring out what's going on with Mrs. Bethany, Bianca finally meets this "Christopher" that Maxie is always talking about. He isn't what she thinks he would have been like. . . . Lucas begins gaining trust with Mrs. Bethany and she reveals to him the secret she's been keeping.

While I found this book to be an easy read, I was annoyed by the drama and Bianca's unnecessary jealousy. I was annoyed with Bianca and Lucas. Period. They just seemed to be either extremely gross mushy gushy or pissed off at each other. Nothing inbetween. Mrs. Bethany's secret was surprising, honestly, the whole ending was not predictable at all.

I'm going to rap this up and make it short, sweet, and not sugar coated: I thought this book was boring and I was tired of the couple. The conflict with Charity was kind of just thrown away at the last few chapters and I was annoyed with how everything was settled. The ending was good though, I was satisfied. This has never been my favorite series but the last book was pretty damn good so I figured this one would be, too. I found this book to be kind of dry but that's just me. Claudia Gray is coming out with a book about Balthazar and yes I'll read it but will I get it and get all super geeked and excited? Probably not. Claudia Gray is an OK writer and this was an OK book.
