The other was better

This wasn’t nearly as good as her other book. Felt that it was boring, little happening and the twist wasn’t a twist. I already saw it coming a mile away. Hopefully her next book is better

Thanks to @grandcentralpub for sending me a copy of this book! I’ve been trying to read more thrillers and mysteries, and this book was just enough intrigue to keep me hooked!
Ellen has a strong relationship with her best friend, Sasha. They live together and tell each other everything; that is, until Sasha goes missing one day and Ellen starts to realize maybe Sasha didn’t tell her everything after all. The disappearance also brings up memories from the past that include a court case about sexual assault. Ellen has to wade through all the lies and mystery to find out if her best friend is ok!
So this book was gripping and I found myself wanting to keep reading to find out what happens next! Ellen was a likeable character, and the other characters are ok, while not great. A couple things kinda bugged me about this book though. One was that the book goes back and forth between a few different years, and the synopsis says that the current day takes place in 2018, but in the book it’s actually 2017. I just found that odd. I also was a bit uncomfortable with the idea around lies being told in a sexual assault case. I feel like enough people out there don’t believe women when it comes to sexual assault, and a book like this does not help the case. This book does not really support women when it comes to believing them in regards to sexual assault. Anyway, that’s my piece on it! The book was quite interesting and if you’re looking for a gripping mystery, then you should definitely check this out!

A little lie can change the world. This book follows Ellen, who’s friend Sasha has gone missing. In her attempts to find Sasha, Ellen has to dive back into her past and reach out to people who she hasn’t seen or spoken to in years. Surely one of them know where Sasha has gone. Or perhaps one of them is behind her uncharacteristic disappearance? As Ellen digs deeper, she unearths secrets and lies which affect her to this very day. Where is Sasha and what lies have led them here?

This was a cool book with some good twists - I actually didn’t guess the main villain, I thought it was someone else! But I have a feeling I won’t remember this book in the future. Nothing made it jump out to me. Enjoyable, fun, but nothing that hasn’t been done before. Totally recommend to domestic thriller lovers, although it’s not a domestic, it’s got similarities.

"A phantom, twisting and hiding as I reach for her, forever slipping out of my grasp."

Three Little Lies was my first Laura Marshall book. I have Friend Request, but I haven't had a chance to read it. For the most part, Three Little Lies was pretty captivating to me - I was curious about what happened to Sasha, wondering who could be trusted, and really enjoying the drama.

This book had an excellent build-up, but it kind of fell apart for me at the end. It went in a direction that I really don't care for, and every time I've seen this direction recently, I've become incredibly frustrated with the book. I think this certain storyline can actually be harmful, and I've seen it show up a couple times recently. I'll stop talking about this now, so I don't give anything away, but you can message me if you want more info.

This was a slow burn, which I don't always like, but I still enjoyed this one. This book jumps back and forth between time periods & characters, and the high school scenes felt pretty relatable. The chapters about school and the parties brought back memories - good and bad. I also felt like the dynamic between Ellen, Sasha, and Karina when they were younger was pretty understandable.

If you like books like Pretty Little Liars, All These Beautiful Strangers, The Lying Game, etc., it may be worth checking out this book. I just had some issues with one of the storylines that I can't look past.
