Worthwhile in examining ancient wisdom, mostly religious in nature, against current trends in psychological research. Haidt's style is accessible when he's doing a literature review, which is about a third of the book, broken across chapters. I'm not sure I know much more about happiness at this point, but I'll continue meditating on it to see if anything sticks.

Not a self-help book, but rather a thoughtful, researched, insightful exploration of the causes and dimensions of happiness.

It's been a year since I've read this book but I do remember this book being an informative read on why happiness feels fleeting and hard to hold. The Elephant and Rider analogy is one I commonly use in my counselling practice to help clients understand the way their brain responds to things in their environment.
It's definitely for the cerebral reader who enjoys learning about human behaviour.
