i cried, this was good, really good and sad and I hate sad I never knowingly read sad. I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR THIS.

I had a really hard time with the first book because it was good writing but it was like an ellipsis… the whole time i was thinking is this it? Just this? But I had the second book queued up and no real desire to read it. I hadn’t read the blurb and figured it was same universe different characters. But also I’m on bed rest and had nothing to do and circled back to. I’m so glad I did. It was lovely, I’m about to binge read more now.

Look, I love Flora and her family. And everyone else. But I hate Joel. And I still don't like him. They need to stop trying to redeem him as a person because he's the worst. Do better Flora!

Mooi verhaal, met vlagen heel verdrietig, maar er zit een goede boodschap achter. Diepgaander dan sommige andere boeken van Jenny Colgan.

Part 2 of the Seaside Bakery story. Flora and Joel’s relationship continues to unfold. Other relationships are growing too within this story. I like how her books are romance with an edge.

i underlined a few sentences that were almost a paragraph in length. There many straight out lifts from Pretty woman from the rich guy in the penthouse hotel suite to the wrapped my legs around him in the bath tub. Fantastical, but not in a fun way a totally unrealistic way, think selkie, magic way with the whales?

I have read a book or two by Colgan, where a greater effort at writing and editing seemed to be put forth. This novel felt like it was phoned in.

There were two intertwining storylines in this book and one of them really interested me and the other annoyed me. Overall it was good, but not as good as other Colgan books I’ve read.
