Such a sad story! I thought the behaviors of the protagonists were very realistic, especially the love bombing texts an  how easy it was to creep back into old bad behaviors, it felt very realistic. That being said, I did think the relationship between them felt more surface level - it was a lot of "I loved running errands with Charlie, I loved listening to music with Charlie, etc." but very little examples of the actual growth in their relationship. I also thought it w uld have been cool to see more inserts of her writing (the entire novel she's trying to get this one short story published, but we never get to see any of it!). Then ending also didn't have a ton of reflection, I think it would have packed more of a punch if it had been more introspective, loved the last page though.

I loved this book. It broke me in half and put me back together with an ending that provided just enough closure. The reading is very easy and reminiscent of the direct writing style seen in Sally Rooney’s work.

both the characters and the relationship felt hollow. she kept narrating all of his great traits and how good he was, but none of that was shown. which could make sense in the way that shes justifying their relationship even to herself. but the book just jumps things and doesnt go into any depth in their relationship

I did not enjoy this one. The main character kept making poor choices and I didn’t really care for Charlie, the guy she was dating throughout the story. I struggled with this one. The only reason I read it all the way through was because I wanted to see how their story ended. 👎🏼👎🏼

I’m so tired of books that expect me to just accept that the main characters are in love without ever actually demonstrating how or why. The romance in this was so hollow. The portrayal of drug addiction was so surface level. I didn’t care for the pacing, the main character was insufferable, the whole “I’m in school to be a writer” plot was super corny. The audiobook was so painfully melodramatic for no reason. This whole book just didn’t work for me at all.
