Beautifully, lyrically written. Really a nice book. I had kind of the same choice as the protagonist in the end. I chose passion. I can't tell you what the protagonist chose.

I used to think that Pat Conroy was just a pulpy, beach-read kind of author. Two years ago, while vacationing in Charleston, I picked up South of Broad. I was impressed. This year, while vacationing in Beaufort (Conroy's hometown), I decided to pick up his magnum opus, Prince of Tides.
This novel is tragic, hysterical, and beautiful all at the same time. There is so much depth to each character. The descriptions of the Low Country make you feel like you can smell the salty air. I won't be waiting until vacation to read my next Conroy novel.

Few writers have such a beautiful rhythm and such a gift for story telling. This is Country of the Pointed Firs for the South.

I didn't care much about Tom and Susan's relationship, but I thought everything else was phenomenal. ❤️❤️❤️

Wow - what a beautifully written book. I finally picked it up because it's my mom's favorite book, and I certainly wasn't disappointed. A rich painting of a broken Southern family and its three children, Tom, Luke & Savannah. Hard to put down!
